Summary:

Bilbo Baggins, the newly appointed Master of Bag End, has just reached his majority. He lives alone in his fine house, managing his estate, and ignoring the people of Hobbiton as much as they avoid him. When a storm lands him with an unexpected (and unwelcome) little visitor, all Bilbo wants to do is find the baby Dwarf's missing family so he can get back to his own life.

That's not what happens.

This is one of my favourite AUs ever, period.

F) There was a spot in one of my Silm fics where Celeborn (Galadriel’s husband) and Thranduil are talking, and they’re both pretty young, like maybe teenagers.

//Thranduil tilted his head and frowned.  “Is the king’s niece a lesbian?  Is she seeking a wife?”

“What?  No!”

“I think Lachwen and Merenien from dance club are lesbians.”

“That–how would you know that?”

“I have an eye for that sort of thing.”

Celeborn blinked.  “…You can detect lesbians?”

“No,” Thranduil threw him a scathing look and rolled his eyes.  “I can tell when people are interested in each other.”

“That does seem much more plausible than my idea.”//

I made a friend laugh with it, so I’m still pretty damn proud of it.  I love writing dialogue in general, and my favorite thing is to make people laugh.

L) I never post a fic until I am absolutely positive that there is nothing wrong with it.  I compulsively check over everything I write over and over and over, so by the time I finish at all (if I finish at all) it’s pretty clear, but then I check it again anyway.  And when I post it, I always preview before it’s fully posted to make sure that I got the html right.  I’m paranoid about these things.  Similarly, I’ve gotten into the habit of never posting anything until it’s fully 100% complete because I’m paranoid about leaving things unfinished.  I’ve learned my lesson–I can’t write on a schedule.

S) I’m a sucker for lovesick men.  I love it when characters pine, especially when they have NO IDEA that the other character is interested in them (but of course they are.)

U) My favorite fic authors right now are determamfidd, who writes mostly Tolkien/Hobbit stuff; KivrinEngle, who also writes mostly Tolkien/Hobbit stuff; and ArcaneBarrage, who has been writing Overwatch fic.  All three of these people are ridiculously good writers–they really know how to suck you into a story, and their characterization is always so freaking spot-on you’d think it was all canon.

I SUCK AT THIS SORRY

But I thought I’d start again!

So, if you’re in the Hobbit fandom, you’ve probably heard of @kivrinengle but if you haven’t you will now!

First of all, as a person, Kivrin is an absolute sweetheart. She works tirelessly to help her family and all of her posts radiate love, even the not-so-happy ones. She really helped me get into writing Hobbit fanfiction, and even though I’ve fallen out of that, I’m still very grateful for all of her encouragement and help, as some of the stories I produced at that time are very dear to me, and she was a big part of that.

As an author, she’s obviously fantastic! Her stories make you smile, tug at your heartstrings, and often make you want to move to Scotland. (Seriously. It’s a thing.) She makes you love the dwarves even more, if that’s possible, and is good at making even the elves seem warm. (I like elves, but you have to admit...) Her forays into Harry Potter fanfiction are also quite good.

Here's a handful of authors that I really enjoy! These aren't all of the ones I follow, but I do want to shed a little light:

lizcavil/ladycavil: my AMAZING sister! She just wrapped up the first part of her Musketeers fic The Road to War. She also has another fic in the same universe called Hide and Seek which is full of fun and all sorts of mishaps. Both are well written and worth reading, and I highly recommend them!

kopperblaze: I LOVE her fics about the young Durin boys, and she's written several oneshots that I really enjoy as well.

drakkhammerwrites: The Stone Keep of Her Heart. It's all about Dis and a delightful pair of little rascals! Need I say more? XD

kivrinengle: Okay folks. If you haven't read any of her work, get started. Her pieces are PHENOMENAL, The Sons of Durin being the most well known. I can't get enough of the Sons universe, and the characters are all fleshed out so well. Such an awesome story!

mistergandalf/italianhobbit: Lord have mercy. This woman may very well slay us all with angst, but we go to our deaths gladly and without complaint. Her stories are so fantastic, and her characterizations are perfect!

brihna: This lady wrote my favorite Being Human series, The War Chronicles. Let me tell you, if you haven't read this yet, you're missing out on something incredible. I'd chose her au over canon every time. Hands down.

Sue Kelley (sknkodiak): You like Young Hercules? This author wrote a fantastic story about three of the best pals ever, “Of Friends and Brothers”! Herc, Jason and Iolaus are together again, but there's a enemy from their past who intends to get rid of them for good.

Wealhtheow21: Wow, okay. You want angst? Right this way, folks! A heart stopping, soul shattering journey waits for you as you follow Fili on a journey of loss, revenge and heart break in To Find Our Long Forgotten Gold! Does it turn out for the best? Well. You'll just have to find out, won't you ;)
