âYâknow,â he begins as he takes the cards, an eyebrow raised briefly and a questioning look shot the manâs way. âBefore we, uh.. âchanged lifestylesâ, I guess youâd call it, my family would get into a lot of stuff, but we never fucked much with gambling, believe it or not.â
..Under Winfredâs eye, that is, because the ease that Wocky handles the cards withâshuffling them and managing to not toss them everywhere as he threads them together repeatedlyâtells a completely different story.
âSo whatâs up, yo? You lookinâ tââ
About that time, an unfortunate random twitch of the muscles in one of his hands sends many of the cards flying, and he more-or-less just sits there, staring at the mess.
ââŠHowâs about you pretend you didnât see that.â
âSee what?â He gathers up the playing cards in one swoop and slides them off the floor and into his other hand. Shuffling them, he packs them together again and looks back to the male. This was the Kitaki kid, hm? He had heard about him from both Trucy and Apollo. Apparently he had been a bit of a âjerkâ through his trial, but who hadnât been a jerk in the courtroom? A place like that really did bring out the worst in people.
âHow you holding up?â He asks after a moment. That trial was over with now, but the effects would be felt for a long while after it. âHeard your folks opened up a bakery. Iâll need to drop by some time.â Maybe heâd pick up some treats for the kids at the office while also thanking the Kitakis for offering their assistance the night he was hit by that car.
