The Kitlar
(Trollificus vitreusus)
The Kitlar are a species of troll originating from crystalline caves found deep underneath the great glaciers of Iceland.
It’s unclear how or when they started growing crystals naturally, only being able to remark that it’s their proximity to vast hot and humid springs that likely was the catalyst for these battle hardened trolls. And indeed, like the springs, the blood of these trolls run hot! Flared tempers are often a mere moment away, and passion and emotion often drives these powerful warriors and smiths to greatness.
FUN FACTS:
Never rely on the Moh’s Hardness scale when deliberating the strength of a Kitlar’s crystals. Hide-borne crystals are often, if not always much harder than their earth grown counterparts!
Thin crystals are rare, but not unheard of. Those with thin crystals are likely to break them off with more ease, but they also regrow faster than regular crystals.
Scars, prosthetics, and broken horns are common, as Kitlar have a policy of conducting fights and matches to settle even the most petty of disputes
That being said, if a limb IS hacked off, it’s the responsibility of the offending member’s clan to provide funds, supplies, or labor to create a replacement prosthetic.
All Kitlar wear buckles or other such metal objects on their person with the insignia of their clan. Clans are named after their founding troll. Oftentimes clans will come and go, but some last long enough to garner reputation and thrive.
Kitlar bonding involves a match to decide who joins whose clan, with the loser joining the winner’s clan and family. The exception is if the winner is clanless, in which case they join the clan of the losing party by default.
some more trolls. Veras belongs to me, and they’re a kitlar (which are a troll race by @zonbiconbi) and the second is their husband, padoun who belongs to @stricklanderpls

Day 28: Calculating; Troll Jim is studying and calculating the monsters' riddles in the Archantopedia to discover their secrets, but Draal is deeply worried about Troll Jim Because Troll Jim isn't having fun and Troll Jim isn't supposed to be the Trollhunter anymore and is a Rider and Hunter, not a Blinky and Draal level scribe, he must do something.
