🔪- scariest/creepiest experience?
Ok this is more funny than scary but it was absolutely horrifying at the time cuz I was, like, five.
So one night I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. When I press the flush lever it doesn’t make the whole flush sound, but I am groggy so I don’t really take notice. A couple seconds pass, and while I was washing my hands, the toilet makes the full flush sound.
Now, here’s what happened: I didn’t hold the lever down long enough, which for this toilet means there was a small delay before it fully flushes
What I thought happened: A ghost flushed the toilet
And I was afraid of ghosts
So I go screaming and crying to my mom about a ghost flushing the toilet. My poor mother is tired. She clearly did not sign up for toilet ghosts in the ungodly hours of the morning. But she is brave, and she wants to make sure I have nothing to worry about, so she leads me to the kitchen and opens the door to the fridge. Slowly the door swings itself back shut, as a fridge door does. The following conversation went something like this:
Mom: “Do you see how the fridge is closing the door by itself?”
Me: “Yes”
Mom: “Is a ghost closing the door?”
Me: “No”
Mom: “Right. So if there’s no ghost closing the fridge, do you think a ghost was flushing the toilet?”
Me: “No”
Mom: “Alright then. Let’s get you back to bed.”
And just like that everything was perfectly fine, and I went back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
