This is the big project I was working on! It took me a couple of weeks to finish the whole thing, and there was a lot of adjusting/resizing/reworking, figuring out the style for the background, winging character color schemes on the spot (cough), et cetera.
Essentially, this was an attempt to make a piece that looked like a real promo for a cartoon. You can read more about the process on our Patreon. But anyway! Very fun, I’ve been wanting to do something like this for this story of ours for awhile, and just got around to it.
Gadzooks! is the story of a villain in a Saturday morning cartoon realizing he’s a cartoon character and attempting to break free of the repetitive, depressing, failure-ridden life that goes with it.
I’m trying to get around to doing nice pictures for all of the characters in Reruns/Gadzooks!.
King Moog in an alien monster king with tentacles on his head instead of hair.  He’s very large, so ice creams aren’t very big to him. :( King Moog is the “main villain” of the series, in the sense that he’s the main villain of the cartoon that Gadzooks and the kids live in. But I wouldn’t say the series is about what the cartoon is about, although it’s a reference for their perspective and the conditions under which they live. 🤔
