(1) Coz a strikethrough catches attention and

(2) Son Ho Joon has always been a name that shouldn’t be mentioned among my Solim friends (So it’s kinda like an inside joke among friends coz I’ve always been on Son Ho Joon’s side ever since the 2AM incident)

Well, I did ship KSE once with SJR (at the hype of WGM).

So basically, I felt it was just too unfair how most (not all) Solim fans treated SHJ back then and decided to change ships altogether. All the unnecessary bashing just pushed me to be his defendant coz his side was never really heard. I’ve always felt he did nothing wrong. And I seriously believe that shippers need to learn ethics especially when their ship is sinking. I’ve seen shipping wars and scandals but this has been the most brutal KSE has experienced. Scandals have always affected actresses on a personal level but this one also affected her professionally. I have become a WGM anti-fan after that.

But I do believe KSE when she said they weren’t really dating. Obviously, they just barely knew one another. But what I hated the most was when the 2AM incident happened, KSE’s & SHJ’s relationship as friends were strained. What’s wrong if SHJ made the extra effort to get to know KSE? Is it a CRIME to be with KSE in non-work related events? Is it a SIN to escort KSE at 2AM? Is SHJ fault for tarnishing KSE’s image and breaking a contract clause in WGM? *curse THE FACT for all this nonsense and for causing a misdirected hatred to a victim*

It was unfair to both KSE and SHJ coz public opinion / gossip shouldn’t damage friendships like that. And for sure, it isn’t just with Son Ho Joon but also with Son Ho Joon’s friends too like Yoo Yeon Seok (indirectly). Can you imagine the awkward moment when they meet up again? If people would look at things differently, they would see that SHJ was simply caring oppa to his dongsaeng KSE. That’s just it. Nothing more, nothing less. 

So if fans would just put their judgement aside, they’ll realize that SHJ isn’t a bad person at all. He too just was caught up in the middle. And as an actor, I really love love love him in Reply 1994. I have always been SHJ biased. Plus, he’s best buds with TVXQ’s Yunho and being an old soul Cassy, that gives him a major PLUS factor for me). Just love their bromance. Both Son Ho Joon and even Shim Changmin cried when Yunho entered the military.

I just ship them, personally, because they could have had a better relationship if the paparazzi never caught them. And seeing that he’s more action than words, made me feel that he may have a better chance with KSE. He doesn’t even need to have a project with KSE to be with her. So I just personally like him because of his boldness (either with making their friendship better or really courting her). But that’s simply it. And now that much time has passed, this ship seems to be a ghost ship now. But I’m still in it. Hehe.

And to further elaborate on things, since I already started explaining and I just can’t stop (please bear with me since you asked a sensitive question regarding SJR… plus you said you were curious anyway…), I was pissed off with how manipulative WGM was on SJR’s feelings for KSE. (I have been cursed before and I don’t mind being cursed again for this…) 

The reality show platform has definitely milked SJR’s one-sided affection to KSE far too much that I would have called it HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE. They should have help SJR handle his feelings professionally instead. Coz despite being in a very stressful and uncomfortable environment, KSE has always stayed strong and finished things until the end (with a few movie exceptions. haha). But I have always believe they could have handle things better back then. 

The illusion of real marriage life was cute. In fact, they were a hit. I enjoyed it. Koreans loved the show. And even the international fans also got hooked up. But when things got real, SHIT happened! 

It was obvious that SJR realized his real feelings for KSE during their trip in Turkey (written confession). And winning the MBC Entertainment Best Couple Award was too surreal that the only explanation for it was fate. But her SINA Interview spoke volumes on how KSE really felt about SJR. (Not like it was really her first time sinking a ship though). But as usual, she did continue to appear in WGM. But all of this was dug up when the 2 AM incident happened.

*I swear I was soooooo FRUSTRATED with those new-born KSE fans (especially those birthed by WGM) for not understanding KSE’s character (and eventually became anti-fans). Just like with her interviews about Kim Bum, Lee Junho and even with Kang Ha Neul; she has always been frank and true to herself. Sure there were disappointments but the way the disappointment turned into hate was just too unfair. She may not have a romantic relationship with her co-stars but KSE has always valued their friendship even if their shows were over. I mean, how is it KSE’s fault if she just sees him as a friend? I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I thought that would be the same for SJR. But WGM is a monster unlike any other show. They basically treated them like merchandise to gain good ratings after the 2 AM incident. I totally viewed their stay in WGM after that as a power over issue. Because of MBC’s power over their career & image build-up and the power of the K-Net’s public opinion over their Hallyu celebrity status, they were made to do things that were uncomfortable - especially to KSE. (I’m well aware of our women’s rights in my country and I’m pretty sure there were grounds for complaints. I don’t know how Koreans protect the rights of women in their entertainment industry though)

Shit! The show treated them like lovebirds in cage or goldfishes in a fish bowl wherein millions of eyes (shippers and haters alike) were glued to their EVERY MOVEMENT if they would fall in love for real or not. DAMN the show for playing both SJR’s & KSE’s emotions!!! The raw the emotions, the better. Shit! They’re not dolls to be toyed around with. But the only thing noteworthy for it was that it did raise their popularity and at the end of the day, the two were thankful for the show.

So why couldn’t I just convert back into being a SoLim?

Coz the SJR fans (mostly the ex-SoLimers) has expressed their hatred towards KSE in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I personally felt it turned out to be the most unhealthy of ships in the KSE Shipping fandom. And the fan war was on a whole new level that I found it so repulsive. Respect was ultimately lost. Which is a sad thing, really. So I am not going back. I do not plan on wasting my time in unnecessary fan wars coz it shouldn’t even happen in the first place.

And for some reason, the SJR fans do have a point that I just had to agree with them that the two should just end their stint in WGM. Sure, it brought them popularity, but the price they had to pay WASN’T WORTH IT. I swear, the Korean Entertainment Industry should look into the violence against women and human rights issues in these reality shows. Coz I’m sure it would have been suspended in my country! So I’m glad it ended and KSE can now focus in continuing to build-up her acting career.

Coz I have always believe that LOVE CANNOT BE FORCED. So even if acting is KSE’s profession, I have honestly believe that she respects SRJ enough and values her friendship with him that she never wanted to give SRJ any false hope. It was a reality show but it was still work. And falling in love doesn’t seem to be KSE’s priority at that moment. But I have seen KSE’s effort in keeping their friendship but also taking into account SRJ’s true feelings for her. 

I know SJR couldn’t just suddenly stop loving her but doesn’t he know that in a one-sided love… the one who doesn’t love back is also having a hard time the more the other end loves… coz it suddenly becomes more difficult and too burdensome to say “I’m sorry, I don’t feel the same. I’m afraid I can’t return the love that you’ve already given. I don’t love you..”

I don’t hate SJR. I still think he deserves to be love. It’s just, KSE couldn’t at that time. WGM wasn’t the right place. So I do hope the guy finds someone who could love him equally as much as he gives. Coz I think that’s what healthy relationships should be.
