A friend of mine, @strange1around, recommended I read Monsters’ Garden, and I absolutely loved it. I drew one of my favourite characters, Kilo Monster, who I’ve actually referred to as ‘Kilo Meter’ and that’s just my Canadian showing.
I chose to draw him with some cacti because of it’s flower meaning. Endurance can mean a lot of things to a variety of people, but to me, it means surviving. Mentally and physically, through years of a harsh climate and environment he still managed to sprout and bloom.
Anyways, this originally started off as one of those “Hey, I drew a thing to thank you for showing me this awesome comic!” and it ended up turning into a “omg omg omg omg omg omg omg I HAVE TO STUDY, RETROFIT AND UPGRADE THIS SO I CAN POST IT”
...Anxiety is a great motivator for me. I still have much to learn about anatomy and how things truly intersect (Just because I’ve slowly started cycling references in doesn’t mean I truly ‘get’ what’s biologically going on beneath the skin) but after drawing Kilo I feel a bit more confident in my abilities.
