Fab Four headcanons les go

Poison finds all his hair dye like discarded from other joys half used tubes and somehow it never looks like a total and complete trainwreck. They pretend it’s just luck or magic or something but the dark circles under their eyes and weird stains from scrounging around for more color in weird abandoned places say otherwise. It pains Jet.

Jet is the only one who knows how to roller skate or skateboard and he’s really sad that its hard to do in the zones because he wants to teach the girl. 

He’s also so incredibly glad the other guys don’t know though bc he knows for a fact they’d try to jury-rig some janky fuckin desert skateboard and have him teach them and it’s a Bad idea. Not to mention his blood pressure is high enough without fresh new ways for his boys to get fucked up. (yes they are His boys. no i dont take criticism)

Kobra is very sarcastic and fuckin proud of it he thinks he’s hilarious and he’s physically incapable of holding back sassy comments but he’s also neurodivergent as hell and often doubts if it was the right time for sarcasm or if he used the tone right so it came off as sarcastic and joking not just mean

He never asks though because that would ruin his Cool Guy Aesthetic so he’s just like an anxious motherfucker

Ghoul is, as we all know, the most chaotic fucking unhinged man in the zones. He doesn’t wear anything too bold and he’s not like, on drugs but somehow he manages to be more out of whack than like,, every other weirdo out there. He has been seen doing a handstand in only underwear on top of the Oasis. He has had an abandoned shopping cart race that also happened to lead to the cactus patch incident. Everyone thinks all the weird shit he does is just like rumor and fake lore until they meet him for more than five minutes. Then they Know. 

Killjoy – Hike

“Are we there yet?”

It was the sixth time you heard it now. Laughing, you said, “I didn’t know I was hiking with a kid today. I thought I was hiking with my girlfriend.”

Killjoy jumped over a log and slapped your head gently, “you are hiking with your girlfriend. But she’s tired!”

You took the techie by the shoulders and turned her around gently to see how far she’d hiked. “Look how far you’ve come. You’re almost there. It will be worth it, I promise.”

“Sounds like a commercial for people having a mid-life crisis.” joked Killjoy.

You snorted, and took her by the hand. Hiking was second nature to you. The forest, the scent, the sights, it was all so worth it- not to mention good for your health too. None of these things had excited the engineer when you proposed to go for a hike. But she agreed to it, since you wouldn’t let up, and promised it would only take two hours of her time. It took longer to re-calibrate some of her electronics, so set them up, and left.

In due time, you arrived at a lookout point, and the view was absolutely gorgeous. Although the morning was a little rainy, the clouds had cleared up by now, and all you saw were trees, and an endless clear sky.

some of this might be redundant from my main BUT here we go

sometime i definitely want to draw his tattoos more fully but he really just has SO MANY. some have meaning (ones in memory of people, ones for his crew, ones that are mementos essentially) and some don’t but his knuckle tattoos are some of the first ones he got upon getting out to the desert (he left the city at age 13) which is why they are. well. a little earnest and a little stupid (one hand reads ‘freed’ and the other one says ‘fuck’. ANYWAYS)

aside from jet who’s desertborn he’s the member of the fab four who’s been in the desert the longest — technically. kobra left with poison at age 12 so he was youngest but ghoul has been out for longer. & he definitely has the roughest backstory. both he & poison were crow trainees and the catalyst for him leaving batt city was the death of his sister & grandmother

this is because of a hc that @sleevesareforlosers shared but now i really associate poppies with him. i think there’s this one california poppy field mid-zone 2-ish that the crew visits when they bloom. ghoul helps the girl make flower crowns for everyone ❤️

ghoul was the one to find the girl in the warehouse where she’d been left after dracs killed her mom & was also the one to argue the hardest to keep her instead of just taking her to gertie’s (obviously they weren’t just going to leave her there but none of them were really sure they could take care of a baby). once it was decided he was also the one who went about finding toys for her and made her a stuffed animal of an indeterminate species. basically what i’m saying is they’re very close <3

he’s had his mouth sliced open and survived, been hit by lightning and survived, endured numerous concussions/broken & bruised ribs/etc from demolition and survived and been shot an incredible number of times and survived so it’s become a kind of weak joke in the crew that the witch is watching out for him (which is probably true)

his hair is naturally black & he doesn’t feel the need to dye it but he has just been letting it grow out since he was about fourteen or fifteen so aside from a reconditioning incident that meant his hair got chopped short again it just gets longer and longer until the girl asks if she can practice hair cutting on him and hacks some of it off every now and then

he learned bombmaking and mechanics from a droid crewmate he had a long time ago — in the last crew he was in before he joined up with the fab four. she’s long dead, but he remembers her every time he wires a detonator or sets an explosive.

When Kobra and Poison first escaped to the desert, they found it very hard to sleep. Mostly Poison. They were terrified someone was gonna find them and ghost their little brother or take him back to the city, and that would mean they’d failed in taking care of him like they promised themself they’d do the night they ran. They used to go days without sleeping sometimes, and when they did sleep they did it carefully with one eye open. When Party Poison escaped, they never thought they’d grow accustomed to all the little noises the desert makes at night.

After the siblings met Jet and Ghoul, Poison’s outlook on sleep started to change. At first they were just like they were when they escaped, scared these two sweet guys who’d taken them both in were gonna turn on them and kill them or maybe worse. But as the Four got more comfortable together, and the desert gained their most infamous (and arguably most dangerous) team, Poison started sleeping. They still never slept much, now having the realisation they were leader and had three other people to look out for instead of just Kobra, another one when they found the Girl and took her in too. Poison finally managed to get used to all of the sounds the desert makes and grew comfortable with them, eventually becoming white noise while they sleep.

However, there are some noises in the desert that you just can’t get used to.

Ghoul gets nightmares, and bad ones at that. He wakes up terrified and often in tears, which means his partner wakes up too. He’ll scream and cry in sleep, try desperately to get away from whatever’s plaguing him in his dreams. Poison will shoot up awake each time, heart breaking at the sight in from of them.
