GUYS I PUT A MANIC LARK INTO A TINY TERRARIUM.
Nicky panics after a night out with a hyperactive Lark and shrinks him to palm sized. Now what is he supposed to do with his friend to keep him out of (more) trouble?
(Make note of the don't-take-agency-away-from-disabled-people disclaimer but otherwise enojoyyyyy)
TLDR; Terry and grief. Thoughts?
Okay so I’ve been thinking about something— not sure how best to explain it, but one of the most meaningful comments I’ve ever gotten on a fic was that I did a pretty common racist thing where I ignored the story of a black character to focus on white characters. I really took this to heart and in doing DnD I try to think about Terry Jr and what is going on in his life. Here’s the problem, I see his story as one of grief.
I’m able to write Lark, and Nicky and Grant because their stories are about mental health and they're interesting to me and I like to make them suffer. Each of these character have had a little fic related to them, 6-month hold, The People We’re Not and 2 Hours. Even Sparrow has All I Have. I started writing one for Terry, but kinda stopped when I wasn’t sure what to say. I can see the shape of it- A high school friend dies and it brings up his fear of losing people. His father, and friends, and people in his community. All the while he’s trying to figure out who he is in relation to Grant, where he fits in at D.A.D.D.I.E.S. and his slow crash into workaholism. I think later in life he grieves not getting to have the family the way he expects to have one, and I think he grieves himself knowing he’s going to die early. That’s why he rolled the die another day. He wants to know about death.
Problem is I’m not sure I have anything right to say about grief? Like I write about it a lot on my own, but that’s different. I’ve experience grief, and know how I interact with it, but I’m not sure how to frame it for Terry. I really want to write his story, but it feels really clunky. So I would love to hear people’s takes on grief and Terry. How do you think he would handle it or frame it. Are there things you would want to read related to Terry and grief that I could include in the story? I’m just mining ideas from ya’ll because often you’re smarter than me. Thank you all. <3

When Nicky starts going through demon puberty, he can’t control his demon form very well. This means that sometimes his horns or his wings come out when he’s trying to hide them. It also means that his body temperature can get way out of control
There’s a period of time in their late teens-early twenties where the other guys realize it’s in their best interest, before going in for a high five or a hug or a cuddle pile, to tap him a couple times like a hot pan that came out of the oven, just to make sure he's safe to touch.
Dungeons and daddies hyperfixation has got me in a chokehold rn so I'm making a blog for it. This isn’t my sideblog, it is my main and ONLY active tumblr blog.
Call me Nick. Trans ppl and friends can call me Nicky :3 Pronouns and stuff!! I'm 22 and live in the USA. Also a catboy. Obviously.
Find me on ao3! I'll also post links to my stuff here under #my writing and #my fic.
18+ can DM me for my side account where I post NSFW writing. Age in bio or get blocked - “adult” or “over 18” does not cut it.
Non-fan works can also be found under #my writing
I also draw sometimes. Search #my art
#txt is for miscellaneous personal posts
Right now I mostly post kiddads stuff. Specifically Grant lmao. I'll probably explore other characters in the future as well :)
My favorite character is Grant Wilson, I think about her all the time and I am shoving her into the torment nexus as we speak. Turning her into a beautiful butch transhet woman also
I love the Glark fight club concept and also ship them as a toxic, mutually destructive QPR.
Please do not hesitate to DM me or send me asks!! I would really love more friends to talk to about DnDads.
¡Siéntete libre de hablar conmigo en español! Todavía estoy aprendiendo, pero no es demasiado difícil para mí leer y escribir en español.
Basically just be nice and we can probably get along :-)
@rayofsun936 suggested Terry and Grant! The activity was "take up pilates", but I decided on doing yoga instead since I know nothing about pilates.
“I hate it-” Grant says.
“We’re five minutes in-” Terry responds.
“I hate it,” Grant repeats.
Terry sucks his teeth then sighs.
“Fuck, so do I.” He gets out of whatever tree warrior dog stance they were supposed to be in toes his laptop shut, successfully silencing Jenny and her “calming yoga voice.” He drops onto his butt.
“I’m crossing this one off the list,” Grant says. He sits down next to Terry and leans his head on the man’s shoulder. With a big yawn he says. “Can’t fixing my shit just involve playing a video game?”
Terry turns his head and kisses Grant’s forehead.
“Not how that works love.”
Grant groans. Terry wraps his arm around Grant’s middle as Grant sighs.
“What’s next on the list?” Grant asks.
Terry fiddles until he gets a paper out of his pocket.
“Coloring,” Terry reads. “Sounds boring.”
“Lark likes it-” Terry notes. Grant grunts and leans harder into Terry.
“We’ll find something that you like-” Terry says, nuzzling his nose into Grant’s hair. He needs to a shower, but Terry will fight about that later. “It’s only been a few weeks.” Grant grunts again and Terry laughs at his verbose boyfriend. “C’mon lumberjack, I have some of Lark’s coloring books in my bag. We can cross two things off the list today.”
