What's your opinion on the latest Future Arc episode, specifically /that/ scene?
Putting all the squeals aside, I actually have mixed feelings about it.Ā Iāve always imagined that sort of scene ever since I heard the news of DR3, but seriously never expected Kirigiri to be there too. (Iāve mentioned this before, but I like to imagine Kirigiri as someone Naegi can rely on as real-time partner and Maizono as someone who he bears in mind as regrets)
It also gave me many thoughts too. For instance, Naegi was barely alright when he faced Kirigiriās death alone. But with Maizonoās death added(and other classmates), he couldnāt stand it anymore. Netherworlds must have looked more attractive then ever for Naegi, I suppose.
Ā Maizono still has bad reputations among some fans in DR fandom for being a ābad girlā and this episodeās hallucination seemed to have strengthened that image⦠so I think itās a little bit of pity too. But I guess you canāt have everything. And I actually love that bit about Maizono too, so I guess Iām cool with it.
Now everything will be perfect if this weekās Zetusbou-hen shows how 78th class was intimate(to induce tears), and some of them were brainwashed to kill later.

You know, I could believe the two-year thing a lot more easily if the timeframe for DR:AE were different. Komaru has obviously lived through some of the Incident, since she says that she kept ignoring that it was happening up until she got captured (and there was that episode with the missing kids and the fingers in the mail), and she didn't know that Kibougamine had closed down or become a shelter. And if the 78th Class did spend a whole year in the shelter before Junko kicked up a fuss, why would Junko wait that long? That doesn't make sense to me. Why bother to wait? When Nagisa talks about the Children's Paradise plan, he makes it sound like Monaka presented it to them not long after Junko's death, so I can't imagine that she just sat on her hands for six months before going "Yeah, you know what? Maybe I should try to gather the Remnants of Despair up again and try to find a successor to Junko-oneechan." Naegi and Togami's conversation at the end of DR:AE makes it sound like they haven't been with the Future Foundation very long, like Naegi hasn't really proven himself yet. DR:AE ends before Killer Killer's events, during which the Remnants of Despair are still at large, so the events in Touwa City likely take place really early in their tenure with the Future Foundation. How long would those transplanted bits last in the people who took them? Like okay, I'll buy that Komaeda's hand is coasting on luck, but what about Kuzuryuu's eye or Tsumiki's(?) uterus? Did Kuzuryuu wake up with a totally rotted eyeball in one of his sockets? Also, if Kibougamine is a two-year school, that means that all those free-floating characters like the Zero crew and Shikiba Santa and whatnot all have to be shoved into the 77th or 78th Classes, which seems kind of weird to me. You could easily explain their presence by having a third gakunen, so why wouldn't you just...do that? I guess if it were me I wouldn't see the point in making Kibougamine a two-year school. Like I guess it could be like a weirdly prestigious å°éå¦ę ”, which would make some kind of sense, but those are usually attended after finishing high school and Kibougamine really pushes the whole "high school" angle. Like if you say "high school" to a Japanese person, they're going to think of a three-year public or private school. Which might be the point, but if it is, why not mention it at some point rather than leaving it frustratingly vague? So I just find it very confusing.
Given that the School Council was trapped there, I imagine the old school building did see use, but it was probably minimized to just ceremonies and selective meetings.
As for a new school building, as you can see from the overview provided, thereās not really any building that could single itself out for an obvious replacement. Also, as far as I can recall, only that singular building was sectioned off due to āconstructionā (really because of clean up from the mess that was the First Killing Game). There doesnāt seem any special reason for why Junko used that building in particular, so if I had to guess then Iād say either that building was only regularly used by the Student Council or it was unused and secluded enough so that Junko could lure the Student Council members there without immediately alerting anyone to the Killing Game.
Itās also worth noting that due to the lack of rules, the First Killing Game probably only took place in a matter of hours rather than days or weeks like the Second or Third Killing Games.
A figurehead type of building that only gets used sporadically throughout the year makes sense. Presumably itās maintained pretty regularly, though, given that this is the building that represents Kibougamine pre-Despair in both games, so the first killing game would have had to be really quick to avoid detection if the building wasnāt already under some kind of actual remodeling.
Also, I think itās hilarious that every part of this campus has some kind of crazy architecture except for the western bit, where the boring, normal prep school is housed.
(I think that dorm or whatever in the south campus violates some kind of earthquake building code but what do I know?)
