The kullad (aka khullar) is an ancient, handmade, yet throw-away ceramic tea (chai) cup designed to protect people of differing castes from drinking from the same cup while drinking on the street. When finishing drinking your chai, you merely smash the cup on the ground and the cup naturally begins to degrade. Today in various regions around India it is an important component of India's tea culture as the natural clay imparts its own unique taste and texture into your cup of tea. Just yesterday we partnered with a potter in Bangalore, India to make these kullad for you so that together we can share in this lovely tradition. Cheers, Joseph Wesley Black Tea
