Idk why but the statue of Khudiram in front of Belda station in the drizzle made me so emotional...
Here are today's Bengalis, blasting senseless sexist and colorist Bollywood music in a devotional occasion like Durga Puja, very much aware of the current economic conditions of the fcked up state and doing literally nothing for the cultural or economic advancement of the society.
And there's the statue of Khudiram, a boy my age who martyred himself to bring freedom to his people.
High time people wake up from their wasteful dreams and work their asses to achieve something. What India thinks today, Bengal thinks tomorrow. Period. Tables have turned. Can anyone please answer these questions that hit me on my train ride last afternoon?
Why was a kid of around 9 years, almost naked (except an old shorts), cleaning the train floor with a broken piece of plastic and pointing to his tummy looking at the passengers?
Why were transgender ladies, outcasted by the society that's supposed to be super intellectual, clapping and begging for money?
Why was an old man, probably older than my grandparents, singing 'hore krishno' waiting for someone to drop a few coins in his palms? Where's your religious fervour now? Isn't he praising your divinity? Where are the religious fanatics now?
The governments, both central and state, the various parties that cause riots every odd day in the cities of WB, what good has any of it done to these people? Food for thought, right? But no, all you Bengalis care about is who won the football match last night, which party will get maximum votes next elections and which pandal was the best this Durga Puja.
Blast your Bollywood music all you want, you have zero devotion anyways.
