Captainās Log ā Stardate: 91005.46
This is my first entry as Captain of the USS Carbuncle. This morning I was a mere ensign working in the sickbay but due to the course of events that unfurled Iāve been promoted to Lieutenant and put in command of the Carbuncle.
As if the FederationĀ didn'tĀ have enough problems, the Borg have returned in force and today they launched a surprise attack on the Vega system. Carbuncleās previous Captain, Captain Taggart, brought us to rendezvous with the fleet in Vegaās defense. I was assigned to the bridge to coordinate medical support, but the situation changed fast.
I beamed over to the USS Khitomer alone to offer as much support as I could. Aboard the Khitomer, I met another officer from another unknown ship, Lt. Minna. Together she and I managed to help treat the wounded, repel Borg drones, and keep main engineering safe. Unfortunately, while I was aboard, the Carbuncle was similarly invaded by the Borg and her crew was decimated. I returned with a tactical officer from the Khitomer, Ensign Lutete, to assist me with my daunting task: I took command of the Carbuncle and engaged the Borg.
Lutete and I were able to coordinate efforts with Minnaās ship, the USS Awesome, we managed to rescue survivors. I request Minna join me on the surface of Vega Colony to assist the inhabitants in resisting assimilation. Once Vega Colony was secure, we beamed back up to our respective ships and managed to defeat the Borg Cube ship in the vicinity.
After the excitement, Admiral Quinn promoted me to Lieutenant and requested I stay in command of the Carbuncle for such exemplary service to the Federation. It is my sincere pleasure to accept.
