I like that KenBindi sort of turns the nerd x athlete trope on its head, because yeah, Kenji is an amazing player, and is super charming with the press (I'm a media darling! Kenji truther above all else), but it's also canon that he doesn't really have any friends, other than Wakita. He's definitely been accustomed to keeping to himself since he was like 6/7.
Thandi on the other hand, is a bit socially awkward, and a little prickly towards those who bother them, but they warm up to people quickly, make friends pretty fast after moving to Japan, and are generally happy to hang out with others after work hours.

I honestly popped off when I made sure to associate Thandi with lots of bunny imagery (rabbit-like movements, bunny keychains on their bags/belt chain), considering that Kenji's bunny symbolizes comfort for both him (as a child) and Emi. Thandi being a source of comfort for Kenji, and both of them being able to unleash their inner kids around each other. Do you understand what I'm saying.
