XIII Death: Ichijouji Ken

The Death card is not a herald of death.  Instead, it suggests a massive change- a shift in being so great that it is comparable to transitioning from alive to dead.  

After pausing and reflecting as The Hanged Man, the Seeker is ready let go of a major aspect of their life that is no longer serving them.  Saying goodbye to a part of your past can be difficult and painful, but you cannot move on to better things without doing so.  Right now, you must look forward, not backward.  

The future is promising, but reaching it will be difficult.  The changes brought on by Death can be tumultuous and ravaging, like a forest fire.  But slowly, after the flames die, new life will rise in the vacated space.  Let the flames cleanse away the old attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors that hold you back, and you will transform.

It’s important to trust yourself right now.  Trust that the bright future that seems beyond your reach will come.  Trust that the pain of changing is worth the reward.  Trust that you will survive the flames, and that something new and wonderful will grow in their wake.  Everything you need is within you, and always has been.
