Companions, advisors, and romances react to an inquisitor who has absolutely no aptitude for battle (no hand-eye coordination, most fights involve a lot of running away) but is basically a walking encyclopedia of knowledge both useful and not so much. (Can't remember if I sent this already or not)
âŠSo if Mod Sarah was Inquisitor, then?
Cassandra: She quickly keys in to the fact that theyâre a civilian non-combatant following their complete lack of skill in defending themselves from demons. She takes the lead and tells them to stay behind during fights, not wanting them to get injured or in the way. Following stabilizing the Breach, she tells them bluntly that they MUST learn to fight, and that either she or Varric or Solas can start teaching them, depending on what class they want.
If she is the one chosen to teach them warrior skills, she and the other warriors in the Inner Circle work them to the bone for weeks, months on end of sparring and hours of working out, but theyâre capable of defending themselves, even fighting when theyâre done with them. As for their knowledge, she sometimes finds it useful, asking for their thoughts on unknown things they find in the wild, sometimes aggravated if they act like a know-it-all. âClearly, you were a scholar before all this happened, but now you must be a fighter as well.â
Blackwall: Cassandra, Solas, or Varric have already started teaching them to fight, but theyâre still pretty sloppy when they meet him, to the point at which he just tells them to stand aside during the initial fight. If theyâre learning to fight like a warrior, he joins Cassandra, Cullen, and Iron Bull in training them, sometimes acting as something like a drill sergeant. âYouâll thank me when you can keep yourself from getting decapitated!â he tells them. He does compliment their intelligence and knowledge, however, and finds it useful when theyâre out in the field, or if he just wants to know something heâs curious about.
Iron Bull: He basically punts them out of the battlefield the minute he sees them for the first time and tells them to stay put. When they get to talking, he can figure out a lot about themâ scholar, never fought a day in their life until the Breach. He agrees with the others that they have to learn to defend themselves, and if they go for a warrior class, heâs right there working them to the bone like the other warriors. He even has Krem help him teach. If they complain, he grins toothily. âYouâll thank us when you can go close a rift without getting eviscerated by a demon.â He quizzes them a few times on their knowledge, to gauge what and how much they know, and finds himself impressed. âOnce you learn how to fight⊠you could have been a great Ben-Hassrath.â he compliments.
Varric: Heâs really patient with themâ not everyone can fight, or should fight, and heâs sympathetic to them. He likes to ask them for information all the time when he doesnât feel like doing hard research when writing his book. If they choose a rogue class, he suggests they just learn how to use a crossbowâ itâs relatively easy. That doesnât mean there isnât a lot of training involved, but he also teaches them to identify traps and how to make trapsâ âGiven the fact youâre a walking encyclopedia, Brainy, this should be a piece of cake for you.â
Sera: Sheâs baffled when Cassandra pushes them out of the way during the fight in which she first meets them, and is told they have no fighting prowess. âOoooh.â she remarks. âWell, weâre gonna have to fix that, yeah? You canât go around⊠not being able to fight when thereâs demons everywhere and youâre the only one who can fix it.â If they choose a rogue class, she agrees with Varric that they should, initially, learn to use a crossbow for sake of simplicity, but states they should also learn to use a longbow. âCrossbows are good and easy for beginners, but longbows âre better by a lot. Come on, Iâll teach you.â Well, she and Leliana teach them, at any rate. Unlike Leliana and the warriors, sheâs much less of a workhorse, and just has them come and practice when sheâs shooting arrows for shits and giggles. Lelianaâs the one working them, but sheâs the one who teaches them tricks and fun stuff, which actually helps them learn a lot. She also remarks that they have to learn to be sneaky, which she teaches by having them accompany her during pranks.Â
Cole: âBlood dripping, heart racing, Iâm going to die, theyâre going to die, I shouldnât be here. Youâre learning, but you still donât know how.â If they choose to be a rogue, he smiles. âItâs okay. Sometimes people have to die. I can help. I can teach you.â
Vivienne: Sheâs sympathetic, but states they must learn to fight. âKnowledge is well and good, my dear, but in your new role, you must adapt. A healthy dose of fear keeps you alive.â If theyâre a mage, she completely understandsâ not all Circle mages learn useful offensive magic. Many specialize in healing and other fields. âWith how smart you are, learning offensive spells should be a non-issue. Learning how to react in a proper fight is another storyâŠâ Sheâs remarkably patient with them if she has to teach them.
Dorian: Heâs a little envious of the idea of being allowed to learn and study in peace for so long into life without the barest concern for combat, but that time is long past gone for them, and he pities their loss. They get along as academic sparring partners, and often bounce ideas off each other. If theyâre a mage, he offers to teach them practical offensive magic. âFortunately for you, you now have a charming and talented tutor in the art of combat magic.â
Solas: He finds it a little aggravating, how they trail behind the party during Haven, and how often he finds himself throwing barriers and telling them to stay put. When he actually gets to talk to them, though, he finds himself very pleased and enthralled with the intellectual sparring partner heâs befriended. If theyâre a mage, he insists on teaching them himself. âWhile you have spent your years thus far studying non-combat magic, itâs time for something new,â he says cheerfully, âI believe it will be both a learning experience for you and necessary for future endeavors.â
Leliana: At first, she wonders if theyâre faking, but watching them for a little while makes her realize they sincerely have no idea what to do in a fight. Sheâs nicer to them after realizing theyâre a scholar, and admires their intelligence. âNevertheless, your life has significantly changed in a short period of time. You must learn to defend yourself.â she says. If they choose to be a rogue, she works them to the bone, but theyâre perhaps the most prepared for a fight when sheâs done with them as compared to other rogue teachers.
Cullen: He voices concern immediately over their incapability in a fight. âYour knowledge is good, but the reality of it is you must learn to defend yourself. Iâm afraid your life as a sedentary scholar is over.â He ensures someoneâs teaching them to fight in their chosen class. If they choose to be a warrior and have him teach them, like Leliana, he trains them and works them to near-collapse, forcing them to drill with the soldiers, but they come out fully prepared for a fight.
Josephine: She sympathizes with them so much. In many ways, sheâs a lot like them, and offers her apologies for what they must endure. Whenever theyâre done with a particularly heavy training regimen, she makes sure they at least have a comfortable room to return to with plenty of books to relax with. They become book buddies.
Imagine Steve Rogers finding out that one or two of the Howling Commandos (maybe Dugan and/or Falsworth) are still alive (but hella old) in present day because they just show up one day at Avenger tower and just let themselves in and before long the three of them are telling the Tony, Thor, and the team a tale of the glory days of the Howling Commandos. (Up to you if you want to throw Bucky in)
Thorâs unmistakable, booming laughter was easily discernable from the other side of the door, as wasa mess of chatter and laughter from his other teammates. Â The softer, slower cadence that came when thelaughter subsided, Steve couldnât place.
When he turned the cornerinto the common area, he nearly dropped his shield. Â The faces werenât the same â lined and aged âbut he still knew them. Â Â
âDum Dum? Monty?â
ââere he is!â Montygrinned. Â âLetâs us have a look atyou.â Â
Steve stumbled over in afog. He hadnât had the time â heâd read the files shortly after the Chitauri, but that had been a few years before. Â Hedidnât think theyâd still be alive and he felt something deep within him easeto know that they were.
âEven ages betterân wedid, Monty.â Â Dugan was still sportinghis mustache, though it wasnât as full as itâd once been.Â
âHow â I didnât think-â
â-That weâd miss a chanceto warn your new team about your particular brand of shenanigans?â Â There was a familiar glint in Montyâs eyes.
âCap? Shenanigans? I donât know if those words belong in the samesentence, gentlemen.â Â Tonyâs grin wasshit-eating. Â
âSuppose not.â Â Dugan mused. âUnless you count the raid in Alââ
ââNo. Â That was strategic.â
âThe goat was not strategic.â  Monty tipped carefully to his right, stagewhispering to Natasha: âHe thought barnyard fauna counted as a sufficientdiversionary device.âÂ
âIt worked!â
âNot the point! Youcouldnât have guessed that goat was going to head-butt a HYDRA operative. Â You got lucky!â Â Dugan took a sip of what Steve was reasonablysure was a Hot Toddy. Â Â
âDernier trained it.â
âHe was the explosives expert!â
â-And goatwhisperer.â Â Steve set his jaw against alaugh. Â
âWait, Iâm confused. Â Was there a special ops goat, or wasnâtthere?â Â Bruce looked between the threeCommandos curiously and seeming a little hopeful that it was possible to traina goat for such a task. Â
Dugan cracked up first,Monty and Steve devolving into helpless laughter not long after. Â
âMaybe.â Â Came the unified,giggled response. Â
âAw, be nice to Eleanor, she saved the day that day!â Â Bucky wasback and had caught the tail end of the conversation, apparently. Â
When they got back to earth, As a joke Lance put Boss Ass Bitch by Nicki Minaj as Allura's ringtone on the cellphone the Garrison gave her. He didn't expected her to like it after Pidge explained it to her, but she loves the song.
Keith's dad taught him to play the piano and Keith kept it up over the years in secret after he died. Team Voltron was on a planet whose people highly value music in hopes of recruiting them to their cause. During the diplomatic talks (which weren't going too well), Keith spots a piano-like instrument in the corner. On a whim (and out of boredom), he walks over and cranks out Moonlight Sonata in it's entirety. The race signed up without question after that. There was much gawking.

The Holts have the entire Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie memorized and will often quote their favorite scenes back and forth to each other.
Lance is a fully trained and certified life guard. He tells people he learned it to pick up girls, but in truth he just wanted to learn it so he could help people. He's also a master free diver which is something he's extremely proud of.
Keith likes classic rock music and popular songs from the 70s and 80s. One of his belt pouches has an mp3 player with all of his favorite songs on it. It's one of his most prized possessions, next to his knife and his gloves.
