“The Thing” had so much potential--it should have been about SpongeBob and Patrick being gone for the day and Squidward going crazy because he’s so used to them bugging him, but instead it’s another “annoy Squidward” episode.

I don’t mind “annoy Squidward” episodes (I really like “Good Neighbors”) but this is such a bad one. It’s really boring and a bit uncomfortable that Squidward is literally unable to move, speak, and even go in his own house where SpongeBob and Patrick can do whatever they want to him. This was also the case in “Jellyfishing” but again, that episode had great gags to back it up while in this one everything is played straight (although Patrick calling animal control was really funny).

I believe this is also Kelpy G’s first appearance, and here he has the same color scheme (as in skin and eyelids) as Squidward. In “Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom” it’s a bit different (lighter, maybe?)
