If Makoto and Kyoko met Kiibo and Miu what do you think could happen?
Kyoko: Would be impressed and intrigued by the autonomous A.I. robot that functions with such detail and fluidity; she would likely have questions that would seem friendly on paper, but in actual practice she is thinking much more analytically. (“What other friends do you spend time with?” she might ask, which sounds nice - but it’s mostly an attempt to gain information on what kinds of personal relationships this robot shares with humans.) She would also find Miu to be obnoxiously grating and extremely unpleasant. For someone as quiet and introspective as Kyoko can be, Miu is borderline intolerable. If they all went out for an evening together, Kyoko would be internally bracing for impact every single time Miu opened her mouth, always expecting the absolute worst. (She eventually snaps at Miu rather coldly, causing the blonde to shrink back and grow far quieter. For a while after that, Miu just mumbles to herself and looks away shyly, looking bright red.)
Miu: Spends as much time at the start of the meeting boasting about Keebo’s awesomeness as she does her own. Once she realizes that Naegi and Kirigiri are a romantic item, she quickly begins making lewd remarks and inappropriate inquiries into their sex lives while cackling loudly. Makoto chuckles nervously (which she misinterprets as a good sign, since she likes it when she can make people laugh), but her bawdy sensibilities never gain her any laughs or responses from Kyoko, who just scowls and stares at her coldly. Still looking for some kind of reaction, Miu ultimately charges into negatively comparing Kyoko’s bust size with her own. This, naturally, is what causes Kiri to snap at her, resulting in a weird combination of her being excited by the trash talk yet rendered nervous and afraid by the aggressiveness of it. Keebo has to put an arm around her and pat her leg to calm her down. After the meeting, she teases Keebo that “Eggy was almost as cute as you are!”
Makoto: Genuinely bonds with Keebo pretty easily thanks to A) his tendency to be sensitive to others’ feelings and B) their shared earnestness. He’s often embarrassed by Miu’s awkwardly X-rated questions and just chuckles nervously, looking away. However, it’s through the way Keebo interacts with Miu that he starts to realize how soft and sensitive she can be underneath all that bravado. Naegi has a tendency to see the best in people, after all. It’s part of why he does what he can to keep Kyoko calm in the face of Miu’s rudeness, and part of why he jumps in to change the subject after Kyoko snaps at the other girl. After the visit is over, when he says something about how Miu seemed “really rude, but kind of sweet,” Kyoko looks at him like he just told her something utterly insane. “Really?” she asks sarcastically before stepping back and taking his feedback more seriously. “Wait… really?” she repeats, now showing an intense interest in her boyfriend’s strange-sounding conclusion.
Keebo: Likes Makoto a lot, but he’s initially kind of intimidated by Kyoko’s external cool. Still, that attitude sort of reminds him of Maki, and he grew to like her, so he tries to act normal and not be too threatened by it. He takes Kyoko’s own questions as genuine interest and kindness, which allows him to warm to her over time. He spends a lot of time talking to Makoto one-on-one, boasting about professor Idabashi, explaining his “unusual relationship” with Miu, and also asking Makoto about his own accomplishments and how he maintains his positive outlook. By the end of the night, though, he’s more focused on trying to get Miu to chill out than he is on the guests. This kind of ‘girlfriend maintenance’ is not a new experience for him, though. He’s gotten used to it, and she appreciates the comfort, even if it’s hard for her to tell him so without her feeling foolish.
