January 31st, 2025: A new minarai has emerged! Miekinu (美恵絹) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) in Miyagawa Cho has begun her minarai period and is currently on the path to becoming a maiko. Since Kawayoshi's atotori, Fukue (ふく恵), is now retired they needed someone to become onesan to their new shikomi, so they chose the ever talented Miehina (美恵雛) of Harutomi (春富) to fill this role. This is Miehina's first imōto and Kawayoshi's first debut in nine years! Miekinu's misedashi will be taking place in February ^^ Image courtesy of Kawayoshi Okiya.

February 20th, 2025: Double congratulations are in order for a double debut! Fukukoto (ふく琴) of Horiyae (堀八重) and Miekinu (美恵絹) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) in Miyagawa Cho are celebrating their misedashi! They have excellent onesan in Fukuka (ふく佳) of Fujishima (藤島) and Miehina (美恵雛) of Harutomi (春富) respectively. They are the first double misedashi for Miyagawa Cho in four years, with Kanatomo and Koyori being the last pair. Fukukoto's outfit features folding fans with treasures and auspicious plants and a golden obi of snowflakes and karabana while Miekinu's outfit features flowers and waves with a fan and lattice pattern obi ^^ おめでとうさんどすふく琴ちゃんと美恵絹ちゃん ^o^! November 26th, 2020: Congratulations to Kyoto’s newest geiko! Fukuna (ふく那) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) has turned her collar and left her maiko days behind! Her smile is so infectious and you can’t help but smile along with her! Fukuna’s outfit features shouchikubai and chrysanthemums with a pine obi ^^ おめでとうさんどすふく那さん ^o^! Gion Kobu is experiencing 3 erikae this fall, so why should Miyagawa Cho be left out? The following maiko will be having their erikae in the upcoming weeks: November 21st: Fukutama (ふく珠) of Shigemori (しげ森) November 26th: Fukuna (ふく那) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) December 8th: Chikaharu (千賀遥) of Komaya (駒屋) This is in addition to the three misedashi that Miyagawa Cho will be celebrating in November as well! 

From early March it had been noticed that Fukuna (ふく那) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) in Miyagawa Cho’s name was suddenly withdrawn from the Kyo Odori deban and she was no longer seen in public. Well, it turns out that she had injured her leg and was recovering. Today her okiya has announced that she has now recovered and is back in active service! So, Fukuna will now once again be seen with her trademark smile as she completes her third year of her apprenticeship and enters her fourth ^^!

September 13th, 2018: Congratulations to Kyoto’s newest geiko, Fukune (ふく音) of Kawayoshi (河よ志) in Miyagawa Cho! She was the first imōto of the Kawayoshi atotori Fukue (ふく恵), who has since retired to learn the business. Her apprenticeship was on the short side for Miyagawa Cho (3 years and 10 months), but it seems as though holding her back would have been a detriment, and wow, were they right! She looks absolutely stunning and the geiko look truly suits her! In a few weeks she’ll be making her stage debut taking on a jikata role in the annual Mizuekai dances ^^ おめでとうさんどすふく音さん ^o^!
