From Gina Dartt’s fan fiction JB #22, “Just Between Lessons:” The sun was setting low over the water as Voyager’s crew gathered on the beach, the smell of barbequing food and that unique odor of burning coals wafting over the crowd as they partook of the grilled steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and pieces of chicken. Picnic tables, constructed from odds and ends found in engineering, groaned under the bowls of various salads, platters of corn, mounds of fruit and notably, a gigantic cake, all of which were surrounded by the shimmer of stasis field to keep out insects … though not the crew who disabled the fields easily to serve themselves before reactivating the protective barriers. Many crewmembers played in the surf, swimming and splashing in the clear, salt water while others lay on the white sand, soaking in the last rays of honest sun they would see for what would probably be some time. This last night of full ship-leave promised to go out in proper style, and the mood was very festive and happy, the leave having accomplished exactly what it had been intended to do. The crew was fully ready to tackle whatever the morrow might bring, completely replenished by this time granted them by their benevolent, and much loved captain. Tonight, they would party long and they would party hard because they knew unquestionably that it would be a while before they would be able to do it again, and it was all the more sweet for just that reason.

She poured her favorite oils into the tub, then got in, sinking down into the smooth, silky water with a sigh of utter bliss. The lingering soreness seeped out of her, leaving behind a pleasant lassitude and she smiled, head back, closing her eyes as she soaked. Time became meaningless. and it was finally the scent of Columbian Gold coffee that drew her from her floating contentment. She opened her eyes partway to see a mug offered only inches from her face, steam rising from its deep black surface, wafting towards her nostrils that quivered at the rich aroma.
“Have I ever told you how absolutely perfect you are, my darling?” she said lazily in a deeply seductive voice as she accepted the mug.
“Not recently, sweetheart,” the Doctor remarked. “It’s always nice to hear, however.”
Janeway started abruptly, barely able to keep from spilling her mug into her bath as water sloshed over the sides. She turned her head, glaring daggers at the neatly uniformed hologram kneeling next to the tub. “What the hell are you doing?” she hissed.

“Is that everything?”He glanced at her, seemed to realize he had pushed his chief medical officer authority as far as he could, and nodded. “Do try to remember our next appointment,” he said, though it was clear he did not have any expectation for such an outcome. He looked very resigned. “Have a good day, Captain.”“You too,” she said with more graciousness than she felt, watching as he went out.

Oh my god that sounds amazing! And you could see? I really wish i could have gone, and i’m not surprised you can’t describe it, i can’t even imagine being able to see Kate in real life :O but i have a feeling that i would have reacted in a similar way though! And i totally agree with the experience thing, (don’t apologise, it’s great to hear from someone who went!) Kate is most definitely a goddess to me as well- and i hope she realises how many people she’s helped through everything because it’s so damn true. I also would probably freak out big time if a DVD was released though, and she’s just so great aghh (haha, nah, i don’t think we’ll ever be able to predict anything she does)
and yeah, i’m sure it’ll be fantastic :)

I’m glad someone does! And ooh, am i right in saying that you actually got the tickets? I’m eternally jealous- how was it? I’m dying for the possibility of a full recording. As for ceremonials, i’d first heard it at a rather bad time in my life *cue sad music* and it was like a breath of life (i should stop with the puns) and seriously, i felt the same way and couldn’t stop listening to it. It truly is a brilliant song; especially with the ocean references and the layers, it’s like i keep hearing new things every time! Same goes for the whole of ceremonials and i wholeheartedly agree with it being in the top three. I have high hopes for the next album :)

(Sorry for the late reply) Me too, though nobody around me seems to appreciate it very much! Especially when i used to play it multiple times a day around the house
