Day 3 - part one
Upon the completion of the announcement, the sun rises on the cornucopia to reveal a waterfall-like fountain cascading from the top of the mouth of the structure. Around the fountain are 5 full metal canteens engraved with individual district numbers, and several empty ones. The capitol eagerly awaits what’s next.
DJ
As the announcer’s voice dies down, DJ’s pops his head out of his tree. Looking visibly sick from dehydration, he decides to go as quickly as he can, because it is apparent that he might not make it much longer without some sort of liquid. He quickly scales down the tree and sprints to the Cornucopia, arriving first. He plunges his head into the cool cascade and replenishes his dangerously low water level. DJ then grabs the canteen labeled “7”, fills an empty one, scales to his original cornucopia-top position from the bloodbath, and draws his slingshot. Grace Meanwhile, the announcement wakes the sleeping grace. Up in her tree, she yawns and finishes off her last bit of bread. Confused as to why the gamemakers were giving them water, she turns her gaze to the oasis. A horrified look crosses her face as she sees the quicksand. Grace climbs down the tree as fast as possible and runs toward the Cornucopia, but when it is in sight, she decides to head towards the desert landform and hides behind a cluster of bushes. Eventually, she draws her knife, and runs towards the water. Karlee and Caitlin After the announcement finishes, Karlee looks contemplatively at the amount of water left in her bottle, debating whether or not to take the risk. Her gaze turns as her ally, Caitlin, rises and appears to have the same thought. “I’m going to go rest up in that tree over there, ok?” she tells her ally, the shame of lying to a friend heavy in her voice. “Yeah, sure. I’m feeling better now, so I’ll go check for food.” Caitlin replies, the same tone heavy in her voice as well. Karlee turns and leaps into the next tree. She turns and gives one last look at her ally, but finds she is nowhere to be found. She climbs down from the tree, makes her way around the now dry oasis, and does her best to stick to the shadows as she makes her way to the feast. Behind a tree, Caitlin watches her ally walk off, and slowly follows a similar path, obsidian “knives” in hand. Annabeth Annabeth is seen emerging from her tent while the voice of the Gamemaker rings out around the arena. Having just run out of water, and realizing her dire situation, Annabeth starts ripping off pieces of the tent to make a stronger bandage for her leg. She uses the tent poles to strengthen it. Annabeth continues to improve her makeshift cast until she is satisfied that her leg is stable.
She grabs her trusty shovel and begins to walk towards the Cornucopia. But before she is too close she dropped down into a small ditch to wait for the other tributes.
The dice have been rolled, the victims have been chosen.
Day 3 will most likely be posted either tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks for submitting early!
Day 3 - The Feast
Tributes, congratulations to the 5 of you for making it to day 3. Overnight, the oasis has almost completely drained, leaving a large quicksand-like mire. Tributes could attempt to get to the small water patch in the middle, but it would be a big risk. An announcer’s voice appears over the arena speakers: “Tributes! You are all invited to the cornucopia to satisfy your thirsts. But come quickly, because the sun won’t allow our water to remain here long.”
Will you take up their offer? You have 5 days to submit day 3 - DUE AUGUST 24TH note: at this point, not submitting will most likely result in death, and almost all face to face confrontations will be resolved by the dice.
Day 1
After the blood bath, the whole of Panem is tuned in, ready to see what type of show that this years tributes will give them.
DJ
The first tribute to be shown is DJ slowing waking up against the golden sunset. he stretches his arms out and the stands up, looking across the arena. With the sun high, and the orange light bouncing off, DJ looks like some sort of warrior and the crowds are eating it up.
DJ looks across the cornucopia, to see flags thrown everywhere but he can see three flags, still standing. He slides down the side of the golden horn and lands gracefully on his feet. He runs to all three and without the pressures of the bloodbath, he manages to dig up the remaining items with great ease. He digs up an empty bottle of water, a loaf of bread and a spear. As he looks at his new items, he seems to be a bit disappointed with his findings but still keeps them. DJ is sweating and he knows that he must get water, that is when he spots a small cactus, sprouting out from the ground. He walks over to the plant, and as he reaches out to touch it, he stops instantly.
DJ moves back about ten feet and piles sand up on the ground. He lays down on, behind the pile of sand and once he is confident that he is completely covered, he slows peeks over the pile and loads his slingshot with a stone. He aims for the cactus and the moment he fires, he ducks down, covering his ears.
As soon as the stone hit the cactus, the cactus exploded with needles firing across the small area. There is a scream coming from behind DJ, and he quickly turns around to face the tribute. DJ identifies the tribute as the remaining district three tribute, Bear. Bear is covered with needles all over his body.
DJ picks up his spear and walks slowly over to Bear. The crowd of viewers can feel the the fear as DJ stops as he towers over Bear. The camera focus's on his eyes, that seem to be cold and empty.
"Please," Bear begs, "We can ally!"
"I'm sorry." DJ says as he plunges the spear into the tribute's chest, ending their suffering in a matter of seconds. With the final breath, the fallen tribute looks up at DJ.
"Thank you," Bear says as his cannon fires.
Bear from district three is dead.
DJ closes the tributes eyes and takes the spear out of the still body. He lays it on the tributes body, and then makes the cold hands around the spear.
DJ walks over to the remains of the cactus, with a sharp rock and cuts into it. He squeezes a little bit of water into his mouth and waits for a couple of seconds to see if there is anything up with the water. He is fine and he carries on drinking till he is satisfied and returns to the cornucopia. This time, DJ does not climb on top of the golden horn, instead he walks inside the mouth, taking refuge in the shade.
Caitlin and Karlee
Caitlin, the only remaining district eleven tribute is seen walking down to the oasis, her lips cracking due to the heat and her dying thirst. As she manages each step, she grips her small spade tight, and constantly looking around. Upon arriving at the oasis, she arrives at the far end. She almost falls into the water when another tribute grips her arm. Caitlin tries to fight the tribute off but she is too weak...
Karlee from district four is the tribute who is gripping Caitlin. She is not tired at all, since she was one of the first tributes to secure the oasis.
"There more you fight, the more I can't help you!" She says propping Caitlin up against one of the trees.
Karlee quickly moves over to the water and fills up her empty bottle. She passes it to Caitlin who can hardly hold it up. Karlee then takes the bottle and holds it against Caitlin's mouth. When Caitlin has finished the water, Karlee takes her own spear and stands in the water, occasionally throwing the spear in.
"Can you light a fire?" She asks Caitlin, who slowly nods.
Caitlin sits by the fire when Karlee comes over with three fish. She drives sticks through the body and places the three over the fire.
"Why did you help me?" Caitlin asks.
"You were weak, still are. I figured you could do with an alliance."
Chris and Lauren
Chris wakes up so close to the oasis, his desired location when a knife comes flying at him. The knife is deep in Chris's left shoulder and when another tribute comes closer, Chris pulls out the knife, and his screams are echoed around the arena. He grips the knife that is now soaked in his blood ready for a fight when his district partner Lauren, comes running across to him.
"Chris!" She shouts, "I didn't know it was you!"
Chris drops the knife to the floor while Lauren rips off a bit of her shirt to bandage Chris up.
"I thought you wanted an alliance," Chris said, gloomily as the stings of his wound pass through his body.
"I do," Lauren says tying the shirt, "I still do."
She takes a moment to look deep in Chris's eyes, and then she holds him tight in her arms.
"I don't know how I would manage if you were out of these games!"
Annie
Annie is seen struggling, trying to carry her tent to the oasis. Instead of running straight for the oasis, she buries her items close, and then attempts to sprint to the oasis to try and get water. She manages to reach it, only to see it crawling with at least two more tributes who have more weapons than her. Annie runs back to her tent and other supplies and manages to find a plant. It stings her mouth as she chews but it stimulates salvia, for which Annie is grateful for.
Grace
Grace is seen pulling the bread from underneath her shirt and tucking it into her pants. She leans against a rock, trying to catch her breath and trying to slow her heart rate down.
When he heart rate has dropped to normal, Grace decides to search the desert pavement, in search of plants, or just any animal that she can try to hunt. The crowd watches as she manages to carry on, despite her cracking lips and her shaky legs. She falls over a number of times but this tribute does not give up, she still carries on searching although all that she is finding is the odd shrub and rocks.
As night time approaches, Grace manages to reach the oasis, but she does not go anywhere near the water. She walks over to a tree, and slowly but quietly climbs the tree. She covers herself in leaves and finds a sturdy large branch so she does not fall off the tree in her sleep.
Harrison
Harrison is seen taking inventory of everything he has and then the views can hear him mumbling about when to drink the water. Harrison then takes out his shovel and picks up a sharp rock. He first smooths down the shovel, and is seen trying to mold it into some sort of weapon, but he ends up leaving it for now.
The next thing Harrison does is write names in the sand. He puts, 'Tributes Close by' he puts DJ at the top and then Bear and Grace, who last time he checked were at the sand dunes.
A cannon fires and Harrison looks up to see Bear's face shown across the sky. He draws a line through Bear's name.
Annabeth
At the oasis, Annabeth looks down from her tree to see two of the district ten tributes holding each other closely. She watches them for a couple of minutes when she turns to the side to see another tribute in the tree oposite herself. She looks more closely and can see the tribute is sleeping soundly.
Annabeth slowly climbs down her tree, just behind Chris and Lauren. When she is close to the pair, the swings her shovel round which knocks Lauren to the floor unconcious and as Chris stands up, she drive the tip of her shovel into his still bleeding wound. He screams in pain which attracts the attention of the other tributes. Annabeth grabs one of Lauren's knives and pushes it through Chris's wound before she runs off to the nearest sand area

District 4 interviews
Annabeth
Caesar Flickerman: Welcome Annabeth all the way from 4 Now, how are you finding the capitol?
Tribute response: [with a warm smile] It is wonderful Caesar, just wonderful. The colours, the food it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. Everyone is so welcoming.
Caesar Flickerman: So what is your favorite thing about the capitol.
Tribute response: Oh Goodness! Can I only pick one? Well, I’ve been lucky enough to have some seafood from back home which has been a nice treat but the people are so lovely.
Caesar Flickerman: So, I can see that you have a training score of 9 how do you feel about that?
Tribute response: I’m very pleased. I worked hard in training and I think that showed in my private session.
Caesar Flickerman: So who do you think is the hardest competition?
Tribute response: Well, I wouldn’t want to underestimate anyone but based on our scores Harrison looks like a competitor to watch out for.
Caesar Flickerman: Are you looking forward to the arena, I hear that the game makers have something special planned?
Tribute response: I’m looking forward the the challenge. I’m excited to see their plans, they always create such excellent arenas.
Caesar Flickerman: I was wondering how the reaping was for you?
Tribute response: When I saw that young girl walk to the stage I knew I was going to volunteer. I’m in good shape, I can survive, I knew I could do this. That’s why I volunteered.
Caesar Flickerman: Finally, how well do you think you will do in the arena, are you somebody that we should be betting on?
Tribute response: You shouldn’t count me out. I’m definitely someone you should place your money on. [smiles to the crowd]
Caesar Flickerman: Let’s hear it for Annabeth all the way from district 4.
Karlee
Caesar Flickerman: Welcome Karleeall the way from District Four. Now, how are you finding the capitol?
Tribute response: -big smile- I think the capital is breathtaking! Maybe not quite as breathtaking as waking up to the waves crashing near my house, -little giggle- but very close. The scenes and people are absolutely beautiful, and I can’t believe how kind everyone has been that I have met.
Caesar Flickerman: So what is your favorite thing about the capitol?
Tribute response: The wide selection of foods definitely. It’s so interesting to eat something other than seafood! -giggle- So many different breads and soups and fruits and meats, it mind-blowing. And they come in so many different colors and flavors and I just can’t imagine ever getting used to such luxuries! –shy smile-
Caesar Flickerman: So, I can see that you have a training score of 10 how do you feel about that?
Tribute response: I so proud! I never thought I would do so well, especially with so many other tributes. I suppose I’m just secretly quite skilled, and I hope it will do me well.
Caesar Flickerman: So who do you think is the hardest competition?
Tribute response: -a pause to think- Probably Caitlin from District 11. I know she didn’t get the highest score, but I saw her in training, and she has an amazing talent with throwing knives. I’m sure she will be quite a challenge.
Caesar Flickerman: Are you looking forward to the arena, I hear that the game makers have something special planned?
Tribute response: I’m sure it will be amazing, the game makers are very talented. I think I’m excited and nervous, I really hope that it’s a beautiful place, so that all the viewers will have something lovely to look at while the watch and cheer us on! –big smile-
Caesar Flickerman: I was wondering how the reaping was for you?
Tribute response: -a pause- It was hard. I really didn’t know what to do with such a… an honor. It was scary and nerve-wracking, but sort of exciting as well, such a new experience it has led to be. But, I-I miss my brother and my father. They’re all the family I have, and I just keep hoping that I will get to see them again, I love them so much.
Caesar Flickerman: Finally, how well do you think you will do in the arena, are you somebody that we should be betting on?
Tribute response: -shy smile- Well, I don’t know. I think I will be able to hold my own quite well, but I have to admit, Caesar, -scared look- I-I’m a little scared, but I’m sure it’s just nerves right? –big smile again- I’d probably bet on me!
Caesar Flickerman: Let’s hear it for Karlee all the way from district Four!
Public Training: Basic Skills
Caitlin spends two hours at basic skills and become very inept at basic survival skills and plant types.
DJ, goes to the basic skills section last. The rest of his one and a half hours. He is okay with identifying plants and berries. He won’t die that way. Making a fire, it takes a while, but he gets it done. Shelter also takes a long time. He is not so great with the basic skills, but is good enough that he shouldn’t die from the elements.
Karlee spends the least amount of time in Basic Skills, only an hour. She knows how to start a fire, and what kind of food along the seashore is safe to eat raw and what needs to be cooked. She spends her time learning about woodland foods like berries and roots though, since she is not familiar with them. She can weave a net from grasses and twigs with ease, but has a bit of trouble setting an efficient trap. She can lay rope trap that will sling her prey into a tree, but anything that makes a sort of cage doesn’t go well for her.
Harrison stops at the basic skills station last. He spent his remaining two hours memorizing and learning medicinal plants to use for healing in a pinch. He managed to memorize and identify a decent number of them in the time he spent working.
Lauren listened to the instructor about survival needs and different topics. She learned how to make fires, tying of basic knots, and other things like plants and animals to eat. She spent an hour learning about the basics of shelter, an hour about plants, and about one hour about edible animal parts and whatnot. She did fairly well on remembering the facts and tips the instructor taught her.
Grace learns the basics of survival. She already knew a little about surviving just from living in District Twelve but she knew things are going to be a lot different in the arena. She learns how to make a shelter and a good fire, a net out of rope to catch fish and how to tell when water is safe to drink or not. She also tries to remember all the edible insects and plants. She even make up a little song about them as a way of remembering that she hummed under her breath.
Bear spends a little time in the basic skills station but not much.
Annabeth was the first person in the basic skills station. She knew that she was able to start fires easily as she had often done this back home but she started there despite of this. The Capitol had provided a wider variety of tools to start a fire and Anna wanted to be familiar with all. She was able to start a fire with each tool quickly and efficiently and the trainer was impressed with her work. She did this for around half an hour before asking the trainer about different poisons and berries she may encounter in the arena. He was very helpful, he went through all kinds of berries. He showed her the most poisonous ones like Nightlock before imparting on her that if she was unsure of any fruits she finds in the arena then she should leave well alone.
