District 6 interviews
Harrison:
Caesar Flickerman: Welcome Harrisonall the way from district 6! Now, how are you finding the capitol?
Harrison: It’s so different from what I’m used to back home! But overall, it’s been pretty nice so far.
Caesar Flickerman: What’s your favorite thing about the capitol.
Harrison: The food! Haha, not to put down the great people, and amazing hospitality or anything, but the desserts have far exceeded my expectations.
Caesar Flickerman: Hahaha I agree. I can see that you have a training score of 11, that’s quite a score, how do you feel about that?
Harrison: I was surprised. I guess they liked what they saw.
Caesar Flickerman: That’s all you’re going to give us..? Oh well, we’ll see next week . So who do you think is the hardest competition?
Harrison: To be honest, I haven’t seen much of the competition.. Karlee, Annabeth, Caitlin, and DJ all got high scores, and if DJ’s anything like his brother I’ll need to watch out.
Caesar Flickerman: Are you looking forward to the arena, I hear that the game makers have something special planned?
Harrison: I guess.. As much as one can be excited for a death match with 24 strangers. It’ll be exciting, that’s for sure.
Caesar Flickerman: I was wondering how the reaping was for you?
Harrison: Unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. That’s probably the best way to put it.
Caesar Flickerman: Haha, fair enough. Finally, how well do you think you will do in the arena, are you somebody that we should be betting on?
Harrison: I would bet on me, haha. The Gamemakers think I’ve got a shot apparently, so we’ll just have to see where it takes me.
Caesar Flickerman: Let’s hear it forHarrison all the way from district6, good luck in the days to come.
Charlotte again did not submit.
The tribute who has the highest score, you are now getting the same prize of Annabeth from district 4
Public Training: Basic Skills
Caitlin spends two hours at basic skills and become very inept at basic survival skills and plant types.
DJ, goes to the basic skills section last. The rest of his one and a half hours. He is okay with identifying plants and berries. He won’t die that way. Making a fire, it takes a while, but he gets it done. Shelter also takes a long time. He is not so great with the basic skills, but is good enough that he shouldn’t die from the elements.
Karlee spends the least amount of time in Basic Skills, only an hour. She knows how to start a fire, and what kind of food along the seashore is safe to eat raw and what needs to be cooked. She spends her time learning about woodland foods like berries and roots though, since she is not familiar with them. She can weave a net from grasses and twigs with ease, but has a bit of trouble setting an efficient trap. She can lay rope trap that will sling her prey into a tree, but anything that makes a sort of cage doesn’t go well for her.
Harrison stops at the basic skills station last. He spent his remaining two hours memorizing and learning medicinal plants to use for healing in a pinch. He managed to memorize and identify a decent number of them in the time he spent working.
Lauren listened to the instructor about survival needs and different topics. She learned how to make fires, tying of basic knots, and other things like plants and animals to eat. She spent an hour learning about the basics of shelter, an hour about plants, and about one hour about edible animal parts and whatnot. She did fairly well on remembering the facts and tips the instructor taught her.
Grace learns the basics of survival. She already knew a little about surviving just from living in District Twelve but she knew things are going to be a lot different in the arena. She learns how to make a shelter and a good fire, a net out of rope to catch fish and how to tell when water is safe to drink or not. She also tries to remember all the edible insects and plants. She even make up a little song about them as a way of remembering that she hummed under her breath.
Bear spends a little time in the basic skills station but not much.
Annabeth was the first person in the basic skills station. She knew that she was able to start fires easily as she had often done this back home but she started there despite of this. The Capitol had provided a wider variety of tools to start a fire and Anna wanted to be familiar with all. She was able to start a fire with each tool quickly and efficiently and the trainer was impressed with her work. She did this for around half an hour before asking the trainer about different poisons and berries she may encounter in the arena. He was very helpful, he went through all kinds of berries. He showed her the most poisonous ones like Nightlock before imparting on her that if she was unsure of any fruits she finds in the arena then she should leave well alone.Â
Public Training: Weaponry
At the weaponry station Caitlin spends three hours and finds that she is very talented with a variety of weapons but mainly with knifes of machete
DJ heads to the weaponry section and spends two and a half hours there. He learns that he can hold his own with a bow and arrow. He is a decent shot, but not his number one choice. The swords, he drops them every time he swings. The trainers quickly take them away before one lands and cuts off his foot. Spears, he is horrible at throwing, although he is great at moving around and stabbing the dummies. But finally, he gets to the axes and hatchets. Close range, he dances around and swings. Plastic limbs are lying on the ground once he done. The trainers nod their heads in approval.
Karlee spends one and a half hours in the weaponry section. She is adept at using a trident and a spear to skewer fish, however she is quite clumsy when she tries to use a sword, she can’t seem to get the balance of the movements down, and she ends up swinging far to weakly and erratically to do any damage. She also tries her hand at throwing knives, and she can get close to the center of her target, but only after taking a bit of time to line up her throw.
At the weapon area Harrison spent most of his time on the archery and spear stations. He spent a total of three hours going over the basic stances and technique until he felt that he could adequately use both weapons. Knowing his disadvantage against big fighters, he decided that weapons that kept people at a distance were his best option. Overall he was decent at shooting, hitting about 4/5 of the shots, but he doscovered a talent for fighting the trainers off with the spear.
Lauren was the first at the weaponry station and saw everything from basic rope to strangle opponents with, to throwing knives and arrows. She decided not to show her true talent with weapons, so only spent an hour there as well. She brushed up on an old talent- knife throwing. She quickly left soon as others started crowding the station.
Weaponry is where Grace goes to next. She tries all different kinds of weapons but decides to focus on the spear. She likes that it is long so if needed to she can attack but not have to get too close. Archery would be a helpful skill to have and she is not bad but does need more practice. She practices bit of practice with a knife and tries remember what the assistant told her at the hand to hand combat station.Â
Bear gave a little time to weaponry, around half an hour, but his heart wasn't in it so he left it and headed to another station.
Weaponry was definitely Annabeth's strongest, the trainer actually told her to go and practice the other stations after only 45 minutes of training with him. She was able to hit the targets in fatal areas every single time, the spear was her favourite weapon but she was also very handy with a trident and a sword. Even the bow and arrows were of use although when she hit with those she managed to it in areas that would kill over a long time rather than instantly.Â

Public Training: Speed
When Caitlin tries the speed section she finds that she is not very fast at a dead sprint or at at distance but she works on this for an hour anyway to try and build up some skill and speed.
DJ spends the longest of his time at the speed part of the training. He is quick but not the fastest. At flat out running he gets beat but does notice the obstacles in place and finds he is the best at getting around them. He learns he is very areobatic and can fly around, under or over any obstacle in his way. He spends extra time practicing and getting used to the footwork that the instructors show him. After three and a half hours the instructors are very pleased with his speed.
Karlee spends a lot of her time at the speed area but finds she is rather slow as far as running goes and as she has weak ankles running across bumpy terrain will prove difficult to her.
Being small in size had made Harrison learn that before the games running fast can get a tribute out of many bad situations. He didn't spend much time improving on physical speed but did spend his time at the speed station reacting to attacks and dangers. He spent two ours at the speed station.
Lauren stared off with the speed course but all she did was run and become faster with the overall speed and learned a few new tips from the instructor. When her speed was relatively fast compared to other tributes and she left after an hour.
Grace does not spend any time at the speed station.
Bear was already good with speed so only spent a little bit time just to perfect and practice his skill.
The speed station seemed to be made up of a running track and a large time. The trainer had her stand at the start of the track and let her have a head start before setting off a machine that simulated a mutt chasing after her. As she got further around the track the trainer would set off an obstacle, a rock or a fallen tree, and she had to evade it. Everytime she hit an obstacle or the mutt caught up to her she had to start again. She did this for an hour before the trainer called her over to give her her results. Years of swimming had meant she was very fit and, surprisingly, fast. He was too impressed with her efforts and told her he was going to make it a little difficult for her. She started to run again with one mutt chasing her, after a few metres another mutt would start chasing her and another, and another. They would come in at all sides and the obstacles increased in frequency. She tripped at one point but her considerable lead meant she was able to get to her feet before they gained on her.Â
Public Training: Camouflage
Caitlin from Eleven only spends one hour at this station and finds she is average at camouflaging but only learned the basics. DJ from District Seven also finds the camouflage station the worst and only spends an unsuccessful half an hour where he learns he does not have any talent for camouflaging. He decides he should find his own cover in the Games. Harrison glanced at station but did not participate and walked away.
Unlike the others, Karlee spends an hour and a half in the camouflage and finds she has a natural talent for it due to camouflaging the hooks and nets in her home district. She sweeps through most of the tasks and gains a lot of praise from the instructors. Lauren from District Ten is next at the station and is not great at camouflage at all. She knew the basics such as using leaves to hide the body but she did not understand what the instructor was telling at the staion. She spent two hours at the station and learned how to cover the body from every angle using only mud and leaves.Â
This is Grace's favourite station as she spends the time painting herself to blend into different surroundings. This is a skill she thinks she is best at out of all the stations. She practices as many different surroundings as she can and is very happy with the result of them but after it’s been 2 hours she moves on. Bear's camouflage skills was a strong point of his; he was able to mimic the patterns of sunlight falling through leaves, and the bark on trees to some extent, as well as a muddy floor. He spent the remainder (three and a half hours) of his time there.Â
As soon Annabeth started she knew she was in trouble, she tried to just paint herself but she did it too heavy handed and the Camouflage was poor. She worked on it for almost a half hour past the deadline she had set and while she had made a stark improvement.
Public Training: Hand To Hand Combat
Caitlin from District 11 is first to arrive at the hand to hand combat station and immediately shows talent with knifes. Her strength is admirable but she shines best when training with one of the helpers as it is then where she shows how quick she is. When 'fighting' with the helper she quickly rolls underneath them, stands up and wraps her hands around her opponents throat for a second or two before putting the knife down oon the table. She spent three hours in this station before heading to her next station: camouflage. District 7 tribute DJ is second to arrive at the hand to hand combat station and quickly learns he is fast on his feet as well moving around quick. He shines as he effortlessly evades ad doges his opponent with ease as they quickly tire out and he makes a quick getaway. The trainer praises him on his defense skills before DJ leaves after two hours to the weaponry station.Karlee from District Four finds that she is a lot better at punching than she is at kicking as she seems to lose balance too easily if one of her feet is off the ground. At his time in this station Harrison of District Six decides to focus mainly on the part about disarming weapons where he learns is relatively quick but because of his small height his hand to hand is only somewhat decent. He practiced at this station for three hours. Lauren from District Ten instantly asks to spar with an instructor who taught her the basic rules so that neither of them would get hurt. They are evenly matched in size and strength and neither won or lost. She spent two hours in this station.
The District Twelve tribute Grace finds that she is least skilled at hand to hand combat than anything else so decides to being training. She practices on the instructor and, as she is an expert, forces Grace to the ground with no effort. She is taught how to defend herself by using a knife against her opponent when they least expect it and after two hours decides to move on to another station.
The instructor was hard on Annabeth of District Four and she found it difficult to beat him. He had her down three out of five times. It made her realize that in the arena she would have to get a weapon. She fought for an hour before moving on.
