I had a fun time photographing some silver pieces at Kimmeridge Bay last week. The Dorset coastline is a huge inspiration in my work, here is ‘Scythe’ silver etched bowl and ‘Shrimp’ silver caddy spoon.

Geometric Silver Box 2020
The Geometric Silver Box is a new piece for 2020. This piece has evolved over the course of a year. My work is generally inspired by repetitive shapes in nature and pattern cutting in textiles, but I am also interested in architecture in particular Russian architecture the onion dome. The three-dimensional shapes and structures of the domes fascinate me a long with the vibrant decoration, textures and colour.
The development of a new pieces takes time from the initial inspiration. Firstly, I work out the design on paper sketching design ideas working through options and shapes. Then I continue in paper and create maquettes which are preliminary models and finally before realising the piece in silver I experiment in copper making many test pieces.
I wanted to create a new piece for 2020 continuing in the style of my work and using the cutting and folding techniques that I have developed over many years.

Aesthetics of Manufacture, Butcher Works Gallery, Sheffield, 9 May to 31 May 2013 In Galvanize Sheffield 2013 Butcher Works Gallery will host Aesthetics of Manufacture, an exhibition of the industrial manufactured object along with the individually made decorative art object. Looking at the relationship between Art and Manufacture Aesthetics of Manufacture brings together examples of highly engineered, quality industrial production and the original one-off hand crafted object and looks at what connections can be made between these apparently diverse working groups of metal-smiths.
