Hyewon felt so light. Lighter than the air itself. Maybe it was due to the alcohol running through her veins, after drinking straight her fifth glass of wine for the night she had to admit it, obviously, but it was no first time for her to get this drunk this early, yet it was the first time she felt so good about it. There was no knot in her stomach, tearing her organs apart until she would throw up, miserably alone in her bathroom. No pre-sensation of guilt creeping in her head that would have needed another glass to shut it down.

There was nothing but the notes of the piano, right under her fingers, the sound of her own voice, perfectly harmonizing with Eunbi’s voice. The laughter, chatter and cheers of the people around them was too far away for her to care about. There was nothing but the way Eunbi was looking at her, her beautiful brown eyes, sparkling under the candelabra's light, a deep sight that Hyewon would gladly fall into and get lost into. She would adore to swim into the darkness of her long obsidian hair, moving gently as she was on the rhythm of the music on her back.

For so long there had only been darkness. Surrounded by the regrets of a lost younger love, a failed marriage, an unwanted life, Hyewon had felt like she was going to drown, tired of trying to reach out for a helpful hand. But now Eunbi was dancing around the piano, smiling, singing, acting, laughing, and Hyewon saw her as the bright light saving her life.

Yena had insisted for Hyewon to come for the weekend in her countryside’s house, where she was having a private party, telling her that it would help her get away from the everyday pressure and sadness. When her husband had left her for a business trip without a word, it felt like an electroshock for Hyewon and she had took the first train to meet Yena, in the last hope to find a little bit of fun there, a gateway.

Neither Yena nor her had thought she would met even more than just a bit of fun, but the thrill that made her finally feel alive again after years.

Eunbi was easy, she did not ask much questions, but yet she was still witty and funny. In a few minutes, she had managed to break down every wall Hyewon had built a long time to protect herself. She said nothing when she saw the ring on her finger, still taking her hand in hers and holding it preciously, kissing her knuckles when no one was watching. She accompanied her for walks in the forest, talking about dreams and fantasies. She was so much of energy, so much of will and so much of life that it felt a bit suffocating at first, but then it felt like gasping an inch of air after being underwater for too long.

When Hyewon cried the first time they kissed, Eunbi dried away the tears with her thumbs and kissed her again, very softly, until the tears turned into giggles and smiles.

“I don’t understand happiness,” Hyewon said, lazily swimming in the house’s pool.

Eunbi, her feet in the water, sitting on the side of the pool, taking off her sunglasses, “why?”

“I don’t understand why she stays forever with some people and is completely absent from other’s lives.”

Hyewon stopped swimming, getting closer to Eunbi’s, her hands and arms on the other woman’s laps.

“Hyewon, love, is that jealousy?”

She smiled, staring right into Eunbi’s eyes like all the answers could be found into those, “no, I’m finally appreciating how she feels.”

Eunbi caressed the side of her face, passing her fingers on her lips lovingly.
