It’s time for KAI! Everybody get hyped!
I’ve been rewatching Red vs. Blue as a whole series this summer, and it honestly made me appreciate her entry in season 5 a whole lot more and how she got to be absolutely as funny and stupid as any of them. Woman of all time for sure.
Here’s some notes and etc about her:
- I think realistically her rank would be an ensign, but since I made Grif an ensign I didn’t want to make both of them have the same name, so I demoted her down to a cadet. “Communications officer” basically means nothing in a transplanted series like RvB, where they are all idiots who don’t do their job.
- For her uniform, I looked up some civilian fashion from early Trek series to see what I could kind of mirror for it. I didn’t want to exactly use a TOS uniform, since this series is supposedly set around the TNG/DS9 era, but I did use some design elements. For example, a “toga” kind of look was popular with the women’s dresses, and the thigh high boots were almost common.
- I honestly wasn’t expecting to enjoy drawing this as much as I did, but I really like how Kai turned out. It was good practice! Thank you girl <3
Next up is Doc. After that I’ll be done with the Reds and Blues and moving onto Freelancers!
