I almost lost my ISH! |JAPAN VLOG#44
does anyone know of Jvloggers who are actually Japanese because I'm so tired of seeing the J-vlogging community being dominated by white people who act like they know more about Japan than actual Japanese people just because they traveled there for a few weeks. The only Japanese J-vlogger I'm familiar with is Bilingual Chika.
I only know of a couple:
Ryoya Takashima (personal vlog). I found him through one of his Peaceful Cuisine (separate channel mostly about food, all vegan I believe, but also contains his travel vlogs) videos. I think all his videos have English subtitles, too.
Tia Sekiguchi is a Black and Japanese fashion/makeup/hair/personal vlogger. Although it seems like she hasn’t uploaded in awhile.
Any mods/followers have any other recommendations?

Several months ago, I made a list:
http://wearejapanese.tumblr.com/post/157916525397/hi-im-wondering-if-you-know-any-j-vloggers-who
There’s probably 20+ Japanese Jvloggers on that list. My favorite (apart from Tia Sekiguchi who is already mentioned)..
Masaki Matsumoto is perhaps not a Jvlogger but he is from Japan and a YouTuber and focuses on LGBTQIA+ issues in Japan. Sometimes touches up on issues like racism but is really educational about those issues.
OkanoTV who is mixed has conversations around identity with himself and with others but also is like a more typical Jvlog as there are travel and culture related videos. Unfortunately he has hung out with Jvloggers like Rachel and Jun.. so watch out for that.. but not very often (I hope).
Max D. Capo is this awkward (in a good way) European-American and Japanese individual who focuses HEAVILY on the identity and experiences of Japanese mixed folks both in Japan and in the United States (from a variety of ethnic backgrounds). And some other more typical Jvlog videos.
Medama Sensei hasn’t posted in a while but he’s a Shin-Nisei Japanese-American that became popular for his Racism in Japan videos. He was previously a JET teacher in Okinawa and his videos are insightful for the hushed part of Japan society. He is currently working on a documentary about Japanese Imperialism and Korean “Comfort Women” (Sex Slaves).
Reina Scully is someone I’m not really sure of either their ethnic background (apart from being Japanese) or what their standing is as a citizen but they don’t necessarily focus on identity. However, she does have a lot of Anime-related videos and “Day in my Life” videos and her response video to Logan Paul was extremely on point. But she’s also not like the weird non-Japanese Jvloggers or weird fetishizing westerners to Japanese culture so it’s nice.
Sylvia G Eatery is more of your typical J-vlogger but she is European-American and Japanese so she focuses both on vlogs in Japan and vlogs in the US (with a sprinkling of life as a Japanese-American). Has a lot of food posts if you’re interested in that!
Eriko is great if you’re a Spanish speaking person! She’s from Latin America so her videos are either in Spanish or Japanese! She is currently not in Japan and most of her recent videos reflect that but she does have quiet a few in Japan! I would say she’s like a travel vlogger!
My two “honorary” YouTubers are…
RamandaBDaisuki who is not Japanese, however she is married to a Japanese man. She is African-American so some of her videos talk about her experiences living in Japan in relationship to that but also about her day to day life with her children and family! It’s really sweet.
Asian Boss One of the main individuals is a mixed Japanese guy but the other is not and some of the people ask questions are Japanese people from Japan and if you like videos like “That Japanese Man Yuta” with videos asking people about a subject on the streets but you hate Yuta (like I do) and you want videos that don’t necessarily pander to a western audience but are also more interesting and have some panel talks then this is a channel for you.

How to get around Japan with ease.
I usually try to train my Japanese listening/speaking through watching some jvlogs and I just stumbled across this which had me laughing so hard. He’s so flamboyant and sassy which perks my mood instantly. めっちゃ爆笑したわw おばあちゃんの卍効いててところほんとに爆笑www
Anyway a brief summary: He said that he went to a salon a week ago to dye his eyebrows but they f*cked up and made them disappear instead LOL. He was in too much of a shock to say anything but to say thank you and he quickly went to buy some eyebrows products to save his brows from a shop two stores away. So he’s decided to make this video to connect with anyone who is currently or had similar experience, also to try out the three eyebrows products he bought to see which one can save his eyebrows. He had a little bit of a mental breakdown here and there but eventually the last product seemed to save his brows, so yay good for him!

Searching for Retro Video Games in Japan
It feels good to finally put out a NEW vlog. To put it simply, I’ve been busy. We have a lot of changes in life that I’ll explain in due time. This footage was shot last year and I’ve been editing it little by little. Despite how long it took to produce, I’m definitely satisfied with the way it came out. That’s the thing about my videos… I prefer not to rush a project. The idea for this video…
