Email Subscription Campaigns
I get emails from Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), Environmental Advocates of New York, Food Democracy Now!, Greenpeace, Avaaz, Oceana, Change.org, JustSayNow.com, and Demand Progress. I might click two of these emails a month. Maybe I continue to get them because I feel like part of the group. Or maybe I think they keep me informed. But for whatever reason I get around 20 of these emails a week that I rarely click. Usually the emails with immediate action get my attention the most.
I've also noticed that I more often click the emails that I pay membership fees for, such as Greenpeace. I feel like by continuing to get these emails, I'm at the disposal of the greater community goals. So when there are much more pressing issues that need immediate action, I'm much more likely to respond.
I want to know what makes people click these emails, how often they sign petitions, and what that feels like to be contributing to something not necessarily tangible.
