Is this how you roll?
The good news: I have chicken in the crock pot simmering into stock.
The bad news: I am sleeping in the guest room (I snore and my wife is a light sleeper) and it's off the kitchen and the smell is making me so hungry. So hungry!!!

The Makanai
Not to be confused with makenai, but the sentiment remains! The long-awaited live-action maiko show has released on Netflix! I read a bit of the manga - I saw a bit of the anime. But I absolutely adore this version the best. If you love this culture as much as anyone, do take the time to watch it. It's worth it!
It also inspired me to make Oyakodon, which I haven't made in a while. In honor of that, I'll post my recipe - which I got from my favorite cooking site justonecookbook.com
Oyakodon (for 2) ======= 2 Chicken Thighs (Or breast will work) (cubed) 2 Eggs (Lightly whisked) 1/2 Onion (Sliced) 2 Green Onion Stalks (Chopped) Cilantro or Mitsuba (Chopped) 1 C Cooked Rice Broth: 1/2 C Dashi 1 1/2 Tbsp Sake 1 1/2 Tbsp Mirin 1 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce 1 1/2 Tsp Sugar 1. Prepare Onions, Rice, garnish and chicken ahead of time. 2. Mix the broth ingredients together and add to a shallow pan on medium to high heat to bring to a boil. 3. Add the Chicken and Onions to the broth and boil until cooked. 4. Mix the egg lightly and slowly add over the top of the chicken and onion. 5. When the egg is cooked as desired, garnish with green onion and cilentro/mitsuba. 6. Fill two small bowls with Rice and cover with the chicken/egg. Use remaining broth to fill bowls to soak into the rice.

Japanese cheesecake light and fluffy, if baked right. My attempt was very tasty, came up like a soufflé, but deflated too much. I think I have to play around more about my oven temperature and bake it for a bit less.
I love the taste with the hint of lemon, surprisingly not so much cream cheese, more of heavy cream and eggs.
Light and fluffy, Japanese Cheesecake (Soufflé Cheesecake) is a melt-in-your-mouth combination of creamy cheesecake and airy soufflé.
dinner tonight: yoshinoya beef bowl-alike (spicy) and aka miso soup (not so spicy)
cos i rock
