There are moments...some times days...where this whole "recovery" thing seems like a joke. Where my mind is my enemy and everything keeps leading me back to all the memories of what my life was. Not every day in recovery is going to be ok. There will be days where you want to punch the next person who says "at least you have your sobriety". You will feel lonely. Like not one soul could understand how hard it's been to just put one foot in front of the other every day. There are days where you will look yourself in the eye and scream "how can one person fuck up so much?" And even then.. you have to remind yourself-A moment, or a day, like that is hard. Sure. And you have so much to heal from still. But even though you might be going through some shit, you gotta know, going back to what almost killed you isn't going to make anything any easier. Take a moment. Take a day. Cry. Scream. Sleep. And when you wake up, wash your face, and start that day knowing you made it through yet another day you thought you couldn't. Recovery isn't always inspirational. Sometimes, we gotta know that it's ok to not be that strong, not know how to handle things, and completely crumble under stress. Welcome to being human.
