â
Simonâs still around.Â
Heâs there when Winstonâs making business decisions, making comments on potential clients in his signature baritone.Â
Heâs there when Minny needs help with her English homework; her father was always good with words, and he knows the difference between an apostrophe and an apostrophe.Â
Heâs there when Winston canât sleep, his embrace manifesting itself in the form of several pillows Winston has arranged around his form.
Heâs always there. Heâs been there since the day he left for that island (Winstonâs blocked out the name by now, and he doesnât want to know anymore).Â
Simon said goodbye to his husband and daughter by kissing them both on the cheek. They can both remember the exact spots.
While he never came back, he never really left, either.
Whenever Winstonâs remembering too hard, and itâs making tears prick at the inside of his eyelids, he can feel Simonâs lips ghosting across his own. Itâs both a comfort and a knife to the chest.Â
And, when Winston and Minny pay their monthly visit to Simonâs grave, they can both feel him. The wind blows obtrusively, and through it, Simon kisses them both on the cheek again.
