Spreading the winsterbeam agenda⦠I love them so much please talk to me about them
Based off of that one leyendecker painting.
Thinking about gazerbeam/Winston headcanons
imo Winston never knew Simon was gazerbeam
So u can imagine how heartbroken he was when he disappeared.
So he carried on Simonās work in the ways he could. With his company
Which probably made him more fanatical to be there for supers.
(Also I believe Simon was already dead by the time the Deavor parents died)(his skeleton was p old looking so yeah) (so just two sucker punches for poor Win)
They were a power couple, but ofc Win was much more boisterous and eccentric as usual.
Simon is the kind of person to read for hours in bed and fall asleep in reading glasses still sitting up.
Heās still immensely private despite no longer moonlighting as a super. So he wasnāt very open with his relationships, but Win was always bragging about his courageous lawyer hubby
Do you have any winston and/or gazerbeam hcs?
Winston:-Heās the older sibling between himself and Evelyn. (Also, if you wanna add the approximately 500 siblings Iāve headcanoned into their family, heās the eldest of them all.)Ā
-Despite the fact that he was older, Evelyn often stood up for him against bullies on the playground. He was sometimes bullied as a younger kid for being nerdy and a superhero geek. As he got older, though, his natural charm started attracting a lot of friends.Ā
-He and Evelyn grew up around supers due to their fatherās close ties with the NSA. There were often supers around DevTech, and young Winston was on friendly terms with a lot of the OG supers (the generation before Bob and Helenās). Teenage/college-aged Winston was personally acquainted with the new generation of glory days supers (especially Gazerbeam, wink wink).
-Heās got his Masters degree in marketing, and heās very knowledgeable and savvy about the business world. He wanted to eventually take over his fatherās business from an early age, and Mr. Deavor encouraged his sonās ambition.
-However, his passion for superheroes almost led him down a different path. In his early 20s, he scored a job at the NSA as Rick Dickerās assistant (in no small part due to his parentsā past donations to the organization), and became even more passionate and well-versed about the world of superheroes. He thought heād found his true calling, and his parents supported his dream.Ā
-However, only a few years after he got the job, supers were banned, and then shortly after that, his parents died, forcing him to abandon his work at the NSA to take over DevTech.Ā
-Heās a glass-half-full kind of guy, but sometimes he wishes his life had taken a different path; he wonders what couldāve been, if only supers had stayed legal and he was still at the NSA today.Ā
-After the events of Incredibles 2, when supers are re-legalized, Winston becomes the worldās most prominent supporter/advocate for them. Heās a direct benefactor for Voyd and the other wannabes, he stays close with the Incredibles, and heāll always pay for an up-and-coming superās costs, no questions asked - whether it be a suit consultation with Edna, special tech, publicity, he wonāt hesitate to help supers with whatever they need.
Gazerbeam:-He has two sisters; heās the youngest of the family.
-He grew up in the countryside of New York state, and moved to California as a young man to further his law education.
-His family loves him, but they never really understood him. Heās autistic, and on top of that, heās got superpowers, and his family couldnāt really relate. However, he was still unquestionably One Of Them, and everyone knew his sisters would beat up anyone who messed with him.
-As I mentioned heās autistic! He avoids eye contact (partially due to his laser vision), he has trouble with humor, a flat affect when he speaks, and isnāt the best at making connections with others - but those who get to know him have nothing but kind words to say about him, and once youāve befriended Simon, heās a loyal friend for life.Ā
-He wasnāt super popular in school, but he did have a few close friends who were glad to listen to him infodump about his interests.Ā
-Heās very intelligent, and he started college at the young age of sixteen; he always had a passion for law and intended to become a lawyer. Four years later, he finished his bachelorās degree and moved to California to pursue further education.Ā
-He always had a passion for superhero law in particular, and he always wanted to put his legal education to use by defending superheroes in court. Eventually, heād get his wish - he became a well-known superhero advocate and defender in the courtroom.Ā
-His friends - at least, those few close friends who are aware of his secret identity - marvel at Simonās work ethic. He balances a large workload of hero work with his law career, and it seems like heās always got something on the go.Ā
-Heās a very confident, competent superhero. In person heās kind of awkward, blunt and a littleĀ āweird,ā but doing hero work, heās basically perfection. People everywhere marvel at his levels of BDE.Ā
-At the time when Simon died, he and Winston had been together for over 15 years, and were starting to discuss adopting a child. Simonās not too good with kids, but he softened when he saw how much Winston wanted a family.Ā
Winsterbeam:-Fireproof/laserproof suits for Winston. He needsĀ āem.Ā
-I have more HCs for this beautiful coupleĀ here. :)
hi um if youre still taking requests. ill take a triple deluxe #21 with winsterbeam and extra emo on the side
sure thing bruv
21.ā¦on a place of insecurity.
ā
Simon wasnāt good at eye contact. He wouldnāt be good at it even if he wasnāt a super, but the addition of laser beam emissions certainly didnāt help things.
His eyes were weapons. Plain and simple. From his childhood onward, until he began hero work, they were unfamiliar and scary things. Things to be feared and concealed. What if he accidentally gazed at someone too long, hurting them in the process?
Even after he learned better control of his powers and became Gazerbeam, he still kept the habit of avoiding eye contact. It was too risky
Especially around Winston. There were two people that Simon almost never met eyes with, and that was Minny and Winston.Ā
With Minny, it was fine. There was an understanding between them; she didnāt like eye contact, either, and Simon made sure to let her know she should never feel pressured to do it if she didnāt want to. He didnāt want her to grow up with the same insecurities he had, since she shared his superpower, and he understood.
With Winston, it was different.Ā
The man was like a puppy. It grated on Simon at first, in the very early days of their friendship, but it grew to be endearing. And part of Winstonās charisma was making eye contact; a staple in most human interaction.
Simon almost couldnāt bear looking at Winston at all, not even when the other man wasnāt looking at him. It was like looking at the sun, and when they did meet eyes, it was like Winston was the one with laser beams.Ā
Winston took notice of Simonās avoidance, and didnāt say a word. They still had great conversations, and they were close; what did it matter if Simon was uncomfortable with eye contact? Still, he was curious in a loving way; he didnāt want to change the behavior, he was just curious why.
One day, after they began their romantic relationship, after they wereĀ āboyfriendsā (Winston smiled whenever he thought of Simonās deep, monotone voice saying it), the businessman asked about the lack of eye contact. It was an offhand question; no malice or persuasion was in his tone. It was asked in the same way youād ask someone their favorite flavor of ice cream.
And Simon told him.
And Winston couldnāt believe that Gazerbeam, of all people, was insecure about his eyes, his powers.Ā
And he took Simonās face in his hands, gently, and left a soft kiss on both of his eyelids, commenting that he had nothing to worry about, that he trusted him, that he wasnāt going anywhere.
And Simon smiled: a rare sight.

ā
Simonās still around.Ā
Heās there when Winstonās making business decisions, making comments on potential clients in his signature baritone.Ā
Heās there when Minny needs help with her English homework; her father was always good with words, and he knows the difference between an apostrophe and an apostrophe.Ā
Heās there when Winston canāt sleep, his embrace manifesting itself in the form of several pillows Winston has arranged around his form.
Heās always there. Heās been there since the day he left for that island (Winstonās blocked out the name by now, and he doesnāt want to know anymore).Ā
Simon said goodbye to his husband and daughter by kissing them both on the cheek. They can both remember the exact spots.
While he never came back, he never really left, either.
Whenever Winstonās remembering too hard, and itās making tears prick at the inside of his eyelids, he can feel Simonās lips ghosting across his own. Itās both a comfort and a knife to the chest.Ā
And, when Winston and Minny pay their monthly visit to Simonās grave, they can both feel him. The wind blows obtrusively, and through it, Simon kisses them both on the cheek again.
