Being a Junior Jock at Magic 89.9
I auditioned for the JJ program because I was already a huge fan of the radio station. I listened to their programs everyday whenever I’d drive and I knew all of their names and personalities. I also wanted to learn and see how it was like on the other side of things.
I went to Timezone at Bonifacio High Street to audition and got there at around 4:30pm. I had no idea that I was going to wait 8 freaking hours before I got to audition!
I remember my haircut that time was really crappy, so I clipped it with a hairpin. Fortunately, I made it through but I was still up for the 2nd audition.
We were there for another 8 hours going through different “tests” of our capabilities as potential JJs. AAAND, TADA! They called my name, and I was hella happy.
I started visiting the station randomly and CJ gave me the name Penny. Suzy or Tin joked about it and mentioned that my last name should be S. AND JJ PENI S WAS BORN. (I don’t think my mom knows that that’s my JJ name. Haha!)
Before leaving for France, I started boarding a lot with DJ Pat and going on Slow Flow as well. Pat taught me a lot about what I had to know. He also has the habit of making JJs panic while they’re on board.

I also got to meet the hosts of Good Times including Grace Lee & Angelicopter.
Sometimes, I also go secretly gangsta when I'm alone in the booth. Hihi
Overall, I've learned how to segue songs, be careful and conscious of the spiels you say on air, combine everything you learn by adlibbing in between songs as well as passion for something you really enjoy. We JJs do it for the love of radio and no other reason.
