Refreshing mint and clean, bright lime make the mojio a great drink for summer in the South. Not to mention rum is just THE official liquor of the beach, right? Here is a classic mojito recipe to make and take with you on the boat this weekend!

-10 mint leaves

-1/2 lime, cut into quarters

-2 tablespoons simple syrup

-1 1/2 oz white rum

-club soda

Place mint and lime into sturdy glass, muddle together. Add simple syrup, muddle again. Add ice to the top of the glass, pour rum over ice, fill glass with club soda. Garnish with mint spring and/or lime wedge.

Nothing reminds me of summer camp like the scent of taste of s’mores!  As I have aged though the sugar and sweet have become a little too much. I love also to make s’mores with a twist, add in some other flavors and keep things different and unique.  There is a number of different ways you can get that good s;mores flavor without the campfire too, check out my Pinterest board for ideas!

Some of my favorite combos are:

chocolate covered graham + cookie dough + marshmallow

shortbread cookie + lemon curd + marshmallow

chocolate chip cookie + marshmallow

waffle caramel cookie + milk chocolate + marshmallow

More weddings occur in June than any other month of the year. I guess we were in a romantic mood this month too with blush as one of our favorite colors, pressed flowers as something to be on the look out for.  With gold jewelry and floppy sun hats topping the things we are loving and it is pretty easy to see the thread of romance for us this month! In the lowcountry June is also that blessed month before the temps get too high and spending time outside seems more like a chore than a joy. We are going to embrace our girly side, indulge in romance and try a hat this month! What are you loving about romantic June? 

1. Sun Kissed Highlights : June is the perfect time to lighten up! The stylists at Salon Karma or Style It Salon would be happy to help you with balayage to get that perfectly natural look! 

2. Blush : This color is just the perfect tint for summer, light bright and perfect with white! 

3. Cantaloupe : June’s fruit crop includes lots of yummies but this month we can’t get enough of this sweet melon! 

4. Gold Jewelry : Layered and luxe, gold just looks great on tans! Forsythe Jewelers is the place to find beautiful gold! 

5. Grilled Vegetables : No one wants to fire up the stove for roasting veggies or potatoes, so brush with a bit of oil and toss ‘em on the grill for an effortlessly delicious meal! 

6. Floppy Sun Hats : Is there anything more romantic than a sun hat? Great for adding another layer to you sun protection too for boat and beach adventures! 

7. Pressed Flowers : Lots of things are blooming and occasionally a flower is just too perfect to let go of. Learn about the ways to press flowers to make  lasting arrangements.
