Juin (June), wood engraving (1896) Juin is the sixth plate in Les Mois, a twelve-part calendar series by Eugène Grasset (1845–1917). Commissioned by the Paris department store La Belle Jardinière, it depicts a woman in a lush garden picking roses to signal the arrival of summer. The work highlights the Art Nouveau aesthetic through stylized plant forms, a cancer zodiac pattern, and flowing lines. Loc. Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK. Dim. 20.3 cm H x 15.3 cm W (8 x 6 in.).
