So I was just recommended a Youtube short about skating (even though it's been 10+ years since I last stood on a skateboard) and I learned that today's skaters apparently use the word 'buck' (shortform buckwild) when some spot or obstacle is particularly crazy. As a linguist...
I don't really have a comments beside damn, Jugendsprache be Jugendspraching!
As a person who regularly uses the world 'buckwild' in casual conversation howver I feel validated!
As a person in my late 20s I'm also glad it's only lile half a word that separates me frpm gen alpha I guess - rarely felt so much like not a complete freak since I found out that the dude who made 'The Room' als uses 'Mickeymous' as an adjective expressing negative evaluation! Maybe I'm just a trendsetter or my vibes are so strong that I can just kind of subconsciously will people to speak like me!
Like if I just keep up what I'm doing and young people all of a sudden start referring to stuff as a 'cultural psychosis', call Adorno 'Adongdo' or greet people with 'Moin' regardless if they're currently in North Germany and despite talking to them in English before and after, I might be a reality bender!
