Say, bœuf à la Bourguignonne
Yesterday it reached 90º and I had to give in and turn on my AC. I’m just not a fan but it’s absolutely necessary now, or the MS rears it’s ugly head and I lose all strength and my balance, instantly. So I’m thrilled that it’s raining and only 63º and I can open all the windows. Today is one of those days that reminds me of the Cape. It’s raining and cool and slightly windy. Feels like an ocean breeze. With the windows open it’s a bit chilly and I’m wearing an oversized, cotton sweater. Appropriate, that I’m at The Nine Lives of a Turkey but I’m going to save that section for Autumn. Instead, I’m excited to make Beef Bourguignon. For anyone who has seen Julie and Julia not only is it amusing to hear Amy Adams and Meryl Streep say Beef Bourguignon but it’s the dish she cooks for Judith Jones, twice and Judith Jones, played by Erin Dilly cancels last minute. It is also the dish Judith Jones makes, drying the meat before sautéing, following the recipe in Mastering the Art of French Cooking. So, for so many reasons, including the weather, today, it’s perfect I’m making Beef Bourguignon. Wish me bonne chance.
