The similarities to the Fantastic Four and BLACK SCIENCE aside, this futuristic angst fest has a lot going for it. Daddy George, is a genius and a very wealthy and connected man. He and his partner have just created a flying anti-gravity device and have changed the world, yet George is not completely happy. He’s about to get a divorce from his wife and his young daughter is terminally ill. So yeah, you just created a device which will revolutionize everything on the face of the planet, but if the wife isn’t happy, you can’t be either, ya know?

There’s also something very dark and mysterious lying at the core of this story and while it’s not quite revealed as of yet, I have a feeling it’s secretness will make this story all kinds of weird and interesting. I’m sure it’s more bad news for George, but wife Sonja doesn’t seem like all that nice of a person either, so we will see.

As a first issue goes though, this was damn good. Writer, RJ Ryan gives us a solid and intriguing plot and foreshadows a great number of things, which should prove fun mining as the series goes along. But the real winner of this first issue is the excellent and charming art by David Marquez. Marquez made his name with Marvel Comics, but the style used here is unlike what I remember seeing from him on comics like Spider man and Iron Man.

Marquez uses a simple, thick line style, reminiscent of Darwyn Cooke or Bruce Timm, but still completely his own. The work especially shines compositionally. As the pages are bursting over with panels, which break through borders, redefine themself to fit a particular story point and etc. It’s a creatively simple use of line and structure that gives this neo-futuristic mystery a unique look!

Muy de vez en cuando me llega algún proyecto en fase embrionaria que destaca en tres de los aspectos que considero esenciales para invertir. Por un lado la idea debe, sin necesariamente ser original, encajar con la Nueva Economía. Por otro, el equipo, gente que pueda llevar a cabo por capacidad y sobretodo pasión ese proyecto a puerto.…
