First I'll share a snippet from the next Sunchoke chapter that is, annoyingly, taking me longer edit than I'd like. I don't wanna share any big spoilers though, so here's a small Don and Joyce moment :3
Don and Joyce were sitting at their gate in the airport, still a hour or so before theyโd be able to board to go home. He was reading his book, content to have some down time after the bustle of the tournament and getting through the airport security. Joyce was curled up in the chair next to him, a book in her hand too, but after some time, she closed it, and he could sense her gaze on him. โDon, thereโs something I want to talk to you about,โ she said. Don blinked to look at her, putting his bookmark in place before closing the book. โYeah? Whatโs going on?โ She fidgeted in the seat, putting her book back in her bag before facing him again. โWell, itโs justโI suppose you already know that Joe and I have beenโฆโย Her voice trailed off, like she wasnโt sure how to describe them. Don found it amusing, since it was actually pretty obvious.ย โFlirting,โ he filled in. She huffed, but a smile itched at the corner of her lips. โYes.โ
Aaand I also started to write a bit of the Shorty shotgunning weed idea, so here's a bit from that as well!
Flicking off the lighter, Shorty lowered the bowl and held his breath as he nodded to Johnny that he was ready. Johnny leaned forward, his hands resting on his knees, and he only just got close enough to Shorty as he opened his mouth to exhale. He drew the smoke into his own mouth well enough, and then pulled away, standing up and leaving room for the next taker. Shorty pouted. โCome on, Johnny, that was rude. You know what Shorty is really after with this,โ Bobby teased. โShotgun was the deal, thatโs what I did!โ Johnny argued, coughing as he exhaled smoke. โCould at least give the boy a peck on the lips, is all Iโm saying,โ Bobby said.ย โYou do it, then! Show us how itโs done.โ โHappily,โ Bobby said.
