Earbuds blocking out a lot of noise, Jordan was listening to music as he walked. His mind was all over the place, though he finally snapped out of it upon seeing something fall in front of him. His mouth ran dry before jogged over to it. “Oh, uh, excuse me!” He called out to the person, feeling like his words came out weakly. Picking up the notebook, Jordan gave the guy a wave. “Hey, sorry, um,” he began, giving him a smile as he handed it over. “You dropped this.”

A gasp was released into the air as Jordan went stumbling, dropping the books in his hands in the process. He had just left the library and was walking down the street until that happened. Of course he would trip in such a public area. That sounded about right. Or heck, maybe he had tripped over one of the crows. That was possible too. Either way, he totally humiliated himself. Jordan grunted as he tried to get his bearings, staring over at the person who had been very close in proximity. “Ah, sorry,” he blurted, giving an awkward laugh as he picked up the books, using one hand to brush off his pants.

Somehow, Jordan had been convinced to sit down and have someone put some face paint on him. Thankfully, they weren’t doing anything extreme, and just painted small but cool little black swirls and designs along his right temple, near the corner of his eye. A mirror was handed to him, and Jordan was in awe as he looked at the artwork. “Woah, cool,” he breathed, nodding several times at the artist. “That’s really pretty, thank you.” Jordan glanced over to where Nish was standing near him, sending them a big smile as he hopped off the stool.
"Just stay the night. You know you can borrow my clothes and anything else you need.” Jordan set his finished beer on the coffee table, rubbing an eye. After all, Nari was the only person that Jordan could be themselves and feel completely comfortable around. “Next time though, we’re cooking real food. Feel like your mom might kill me if I don’t at least try to make sure you’re eating well.” It was a teasing remark, smirk on their lips. Not like Jordan ate any healthier. If it wasn’t for Nari’s mom stopping by every so often to stock his fridge, he’d probably be living off instant ramen just out of convenience.
Reaching to grab another piece of chicken, Jordan froze, head tilted. “Speaking of... did you tell her you were here?” It was a blessing and a curse, and apparently, alcohol was no deterrent when it came to his senses. Everyone had a unique scent, and there was no denying that Nari’s mom was near. Jordan shuffled around for the remote, backing out of Netflix and tossing the device back onto the couch. “Uh—I got the beer. You sure your mom doesn’t have telepathy or something?” He made an attempt to start cleaning up some in what little time they had before her mom reached the door. // @eeclatantt
