Jeongwoo felt so calm resting himself in the elder’s embrace, his eyes already falling shut from a tiredness kicking into him. The alcohol was maybe starting to get out of his system, but he certainly wasn’t feeling any effect of that. He felt so angry at himself for letting this happen to again, but he wasn’t ready to admit he had a problem yet. “It’s just my nose,” he sighed, looking up at Daehyun through his lashes which was usually endearing, but he was literally covered in blood, “I mean my body hurts, but nothing seriously. I’ll be sore in the morning but nothing to really worry about.”
He was so done with this entire night. He wanted to be home in bed, maybe even cuddled up in Daehyun’s side, with some comfy jammies on and a warm duvet to cover him. The cold was starting to cause shivers in the poor boy’s body. “I didn’t mean for it to happen. I just got angry at one of them, but then all of them just stood up and got angry and one of them threw a punch and I wasn’t just going to let them beat me up. Plus a bouncer came like five minutes into the fight, I wasn’t scared,” he muttered, voice as monotone as his emotions at this time. He stood himself up as best as he could, giving a firm nod before making his own way to the elder’s car, stumbling and taking a more diagonal route than he meant. “Come on Dae! I wanna cuddle at home!”
He let one of his hands gently rub Jeongwoo’s back in a comforting gesture, letting him stay there against him as long as he needed. When the younger male looked up at him, those same soft eyes he’d used times before, Daehyun knew he couldn’t force him to go to the hospital, covered in blood or not. Only Jeongwoo knew exactly how he felt and if he didn’t think it was anything urgent, then Daehyun would have to take him at his word. “Okay... If anything changes, you’ll tell me, right?” Here’s to hoping he didn’t have any internal injuries.
As Jeongwoo started rambling about what happened, Daehyun eased himself away from the embrace once he could feel him shivering. He shrugged his jacket off without a second thought and draped it over the boy’s shoulders. If he wasn’t fully awake before, he definitely was now; the cold air was a rude awakening. “Five minutes is a long time in a situation like that. But it’s okay. It’s over.” Daehyun watched as Jeongwoo started for his car and seeing him stumble had him biting his lip, following after him. Please just let that be the effects of the alcohol. “I’m coming, I’m coming.”
It wasn’t too long of a drive, thankfully, and since it was so late, there wasn’t much traffic to worry about. Daehyun got his car parked and helped Jeongwoo to his apartment, hitting the lights as soon as he walked through the door. “Kitchen or bathroom, your choice.” In case he couldn’t get to the bathroom, the kitchen was the next best place to try and get him cleaned up. “I’ll be right back.” Daehyun disappeared long enough to grab a few things to clean any abrasions and a damp washcloth to wipe the blood away, along with some clothes he could get changed into after the fact before returning to his side.
I keep considering coming back but I really need to lock down my muses lol indecision will forever be the death of me fr

TEN ⊹ BAMBOLA (2025)
han-na copes with complex emotions by immersing herself in work. she often takes on 16-hour shifts, three or four days a week. whenever someone calls off, she's the first to be called and always answers, even when her limbs ache and her head pounds for rest. she loves her job and excels at it. her patients are mostly elderly in their final years of life. han-na is often the last nurse they see before they pass away or move to hospice care. she is attentive and kind, even when patients scream for something as simple as a cup of water. though those patients aren't her favorite, she treats them all the same—that's just the kind of person she is.
han-na's expectations for herself are just as high as those she has for her partners, including insu. she encourages him to work hard but also demands his time and reassurance at perhaps an unattainable rate. her insecurities make her jealous and irrational at times. she wants insu's schedule to align with her own, even though she knows it's unrealistic.
From a young age, Insu learned it was important to pick up on behaviors. Particularly, emotional ones. He needed to know how to predict the next move; a defense mechanism. Pay attention to the smallest of details. It was all thanks to his family, his father and brother, and the lifestyle he now did his best to leave in the past. So, the sudden change in Han-na's demeanor had Insu watching her more carefully. But not as a perceived threat. It was concern.
"You can't possibly think—" His brow was furrowed until he stopped himself short, expression softening. Honestly, Han-na had always been too good for him. He never understood what she saw in him and why they lasted as long as they did. Even if he couldn't live up to her standards or meet her expectations, however unrealistic they were, he knew she always meant well. She was the type of person that wore her heart on her sleeve with so much love to give. Constantly giving, and giving, and giving. "Han-na..."
Insu positioned himself on the bed to face her better, leaning back to grab a box of tissues from the nightstand, and offered them to her with a solemn expression. "You couldn't have known. There's always a chance of complications with surgeries. Even common ones, you've told me that. Hey—" He gently grabbed one of her hands, cupping it between his with a firm squeeze in the hope that his next words truly sank in: "It's not your fault."
While finding him had been easier than expected it didn't mean she would not have been capable otherwise. Hiding from her company was near impossible if not at least a tedious task that needed to be precise. Although finding him like this did not cloud her mind about his capabilities outside of hiding away from people he doesn't want to find him. "You wouldn't be." Anyone with an ounce of smugness to them would have matched his smirk or even provoking snark, yet Yunseo was more than clinical about her statement, a cold certainty to it that gave the statement more weight than any sarcasm ever could. Confidence was more than making a cheap show of oneself which many in her position liked to do. "Extraordinary in many ways, we have a customer satisfaction score of 99%. In a sense we share a business model, Park Joonho-ssi." Reaching for her bag she slipped an ipad across the table next, revealing with just one simple tap a silent security camera video of a masked figure following the man's brother. "Your carelessness has caught the attention of one of our targets, who led us to your bother. I assume a fact you are not yet aware of but would be soon enough. Undeniably something you would want to pursue which is why I am here." Firm fingers slid the ipad back over to her side of the table the same moment her other hand put out her cigarette. "Our customer is rather precise about their wishes regarding this target and if they were to be taken care of in any other way, that would reflect badly upon my company. Which is why I am proposing a deal."
He exhaled through his nose, perhaps louder than he intended to. He wasn't sure how to read this woman. Very matter-of-fact, straightforward. No rebuttal, no anger. The complete opposite of what Joonho was used to facing. And it honestly put him a bit outside his comfort zone.
Leaning onto his elbows, he remained quiet as his eyes followed her movement. And once the tablet was turned toward him, his jaw clenched. Was this a setup? Was she bluffing? No... Yunseo wouldn't have a reason to target him like this. Insu wasn't stupid though. But if he knew he was being followed, he would have contacted him. Right?
Fuck. Joonho really had been too careless lately, forever unaware that his actions always had consequences.
"In other words, I join your company, I can handle this matter myself. A win-win." His fingers were itching to pull his cell phone from his pocket and call Insu. Though, his brother would probably ignore him. "But why go through all the trouble?" Joonho needed to keep his composure. No matter how stoic he may have tried to remain, he knew he had noticeably tensed up. "You could have handled it without me even knowing in the first place. Almost feels like you're trying to help me."
Her world felt like it was spinning, almost as if she had just come off of a tilt-a-whirl ride at the fair. She managed to load herself into a taxi and give an address. It just so happened that it wasn't her address. When the door opened and she heard the question, it took her a moment to process it before shaking her head. Layla had no idea what time it was, or what day it was, to be fair. The alcohol had fully consumed her mind. "No, m'sorry," she slurred out, moving slowly into the apartment once she had been given silent permission. "I gave your address by mistake, driver left before I realized..." Layla trailed off, looking at Beam with an apologetic look. "I was throwing myself a pity party... I got royally dumped and embarrassed," she blabbed, the emotions getting the best of her whole her eyes teared up.
It was just Daeun's luck, getting stuck with an emotional drunk in the middle of the night. Crying over a breakup, of all things. Sighing to herself, she locked the door back and led Layla by the wrist to the sofa. "Better you ended up here than in an alleyway or something." Daeun was not the right person to properly deal with this. But she was thankful that Layla seemed to physically be okay. "Do you feel nauseated at all?" Daeun stepped out of the room long enough to retrieve a glass of water, offering it to Layla once she returned. "Pity parties aren't exactly fun. And I'm sure whatever happened... you know, fuck them."

exes are one thing ; complicated exes are another—and as the age-old saying goes , exes are exes for a reason . perhaps choi han-na's expectations were unobtainable , or maybe her demanding work precluded her from being fully emotionally invested in anything . even having a day off , or three , scarcely feels like a reprieve . transitioning from one shift to dreading the next , worsened by the escalating crime rate ; she can't relax . she has witnessed everything—no wonder nightmares disrupt her sleep .
she had nearly forgotten insu was there . not that she didn't appreciate his presence , she was too startled to focus on anything other than her rapid heart rate . “ i'm fine , ” han-na lies , sitting up in her bed and wiping the tears from her cheeks . “ i thought you would've left by now , ” she remarks . their relationship hadn't ended well .
Given their history, maybe Insu should have left. But just because their relationship ended rather harshly, it didn't magically eradicate the feelings he had for Han-na. He still cared about her; he wasn't soulless.
"Hm... is this the part where I call you out on your bullshit?" Insu hesitated a moment but when Han-na sat up, he decided to take a seat on her bed, back propped up and legs stretched in front of him. He was all too familiar with restless nights and nightmares. It appeared Han-na had once again become plagued by them too.
"Still here." Insu reassured her with a small smile. "I can leave, if you prefer. I'm also still a fairly decent listener, if you want to talk about it."
open to: anyone. ( y/m has had trouble sleeping lately and Insu offered to stay the night; could simply be platonic, could be more. )
muse: Insu, 33 years old.
When Insu had offered to stay the night, he just assumed he would take the couch. Which was exactly where he resided until he could hear something coming from their room. He hesitated a moment before getting up and gently knocking on their door, slowly pushing it open. "You okay?"

a continuation from here for @itsacriime .
"hey! i didn't start the fight . . . this time." but that didn't mean he didn't intend to finish it. and did just that. you should see the other guy. "stitches?" moose groans, tilts his head back briefly before looking at benz once more. "you really think so?"
Rather than immediately respond, Benz simply shot Moose a disapproving look before turning his attention back to the injury at hand. "I might be able to make it work without stitches, if you're worried about scarring. But you have to keep the area clean. And that means no more fights. — Hold this and keep pressure." He grabbed Moose's hand and replaced his own that was holding the bit of gauze over the wound, needing his hands free to prepare and properly sterilize. "Why do you even get into fights? What's the purpose?"
"To a fault." If it weren't for habit it would have taken only a tad longer to find him. Either way it was good she had done so that night in order to gauge her possibilities regarding this matter rather quickly. Yunseo could be patient but anything that could be done immediately was never pushed off with her. "And I intent to keep it that way." Fingers slipped into her purse, a business card soon slid across the table to him. "Regardless of your impact on my business I do respect skill. Skills that are more than useful to my company. So unless you want to continue being in my way I welcome you as a hire." The other option on her mind was much less luxurious.
A firm reminder that he needed to be more cautious and switch up his routine a bit more; he had gotten careless. If she was able to track him down, there were surely others that were just as capable. Though, maybe not as efficient. Joonho leaned onto the table, eyes following the business card as it slid across. CEO of CLAW. A security company. He had to smirk, taking one last drag of his cigarette with a nod. "And if I continue to be in your way? Hm?" Of course, Joonho knew what the other option was. Which was all the more reason why he found this to be amusing, even when he shouldn't. "You're no ordinary security company. Why don't you fill me in on some of the details, Ms. Lim Yunseo."

the logical thing would be to play dumb, to keep walking as if he hadn’t heard her — but instinct wins out before reason can catch up. hence yeo ju-an does the exact opposite by glancing around once, thentwice, before playing it off with a nonchalant (pathetic) attempt to appear natural. his parents have a habit of assigning bodyguards to tail him at times, convinced he might vanish into thin air if left unattended. but this? something feels different, more so with the look on daeun's face. "nothing," he starts, turning back to glance at her, voice level despite the furrow of his brows, "that's what i have in mind for now, at least. unless you feel like this is a run now, ask questions later kind of situation?"
"Nothing? That's your decision?" She kept her voice down but her tone conveyed something along the line of annoyance. Not that she had a better idea, nor could she truly judge him for his choice. Daeun just hoped he would suddenly have a plan. "Running will only draw more attention. Unless we're running into an alley and taking matters into our own hands out of the public eye. We could confront him." She could only assume this had something to do with the digging around she had done, trying to find, and eventually eradicating, anyone that had anything to do with the new drug that was hitting the streets. "Unless you pissed someone off?" Daeun glanced to Ju-an with a questioning look.
And yet, cross his heart and hope to die might come sooner than he thought. Whether it was at the hand of his opponents or her hands. Still she let Mingyu into her home and yet. Juliet sighed, "please, you know you were always a needle in my side." His smirk was very clear that even now he didn't stop. Jules focused her attention on the kit, drawing out a sanitation wipe. Maybe he'd be less appreciative once the antiseptic was on his cheek. The bouncing of his knee didn't escape her notice either. "Life is... boring." Well others wouldn't call what she normally did as boring but she had been so used to it now that it was. That and her cover job was also draining. "I think I need a new hobby or something."
"I'm a, uh... needle in most people's sides. Some more intentional than others." Which would usually boil down to incessant poking and playful nagging, grinning ear to ear in a childlike manner until he could get the other to crack. Mingyu placed his hands on his knees, his grip tightening a little once the antiseptic touched the wound. "Monotonous?" Between the conversation, his racing thoughts, trying to focus on breathing through the nausea, and making sure he wasn't fidgeting anymore than usual, Mingyu was struggling. "You could get a pet. A dog. Then, you can go for walks and go to different parks. Uh... crochet. Video games. You can never go wrong with video games."
