First off, I don’t particularly connect Champagne Problems, No Body No Crime, Happiness, Dorothea, or Closure with any characters or ships. Yes, I know that 99% of the Destiel fandom decided that Champagne Problems and Happiness are Destiel songs, but I just can’t take a couple of lines out of the song out of context and still say the whole song fits. That’s just me, not a judgment of anyone else. Considering the story created for Champagne Problems is someone proposing to their high school sweetheart who turns them down and breaks up with them, and Happiness is moving on from a relationship that didn’t work out... sorry, it just doesn’t work for me.

Willow - Midam

I don’t know if I have a reason for why I think this song fits them, but it just does.

Gold Rush - Sabriel

Okay, so I already was hoping to be able to connect this with Gabriel/Sabriel based solely on the title before I listened to it, but I do think it works for them really well. The overall emotion of the song being that you don’t like having a crush on someone because it makes you vulnerable, and knowing that the person you have a crush on is someone who is admired/sought after by many other people works so well. Bonus points for “your hair falling into place like dominoes”

‘Tis the Damn Season - JoJess

Don’t ask me why my brain decided this was a JoJess song, I don’t know. But now that I’ve thought of it I can’t un-think it. So that’s what it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tolerate It - John/Mary

Specifically from Mary’s perspective, obviously. Given that we knew that their relationship had issues before she died, and also knowing the time period she grew up/ lived in and the social norms of the time, I feel like this is a pretty fitting song for her mentality with her relationship with John. Also, this blog is a John Winchester hate zone, so there’s that. Bonus points for “I greet you with a battle hero’s welcome/ I take your indiscretions all in good fun” and “Now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life”.

Coney Island - Destiel

Why the fuck isn’t this the song that the Destiel side of fandom is freaking out over?!? “And if this is the long haul/ How'd we get here so soon?/ Did I close my fist around something delicate?/ Did I shatter you?” Taylor’s part = Cas.

“If I pushed you to the edge/ But you were too polite to leave me/ And do you miss the rogue/ Who coaxed you into paradise and left you there?/ Will you forgive my soul/ When you're too wise to trust me and too old to care?” Matt’s part = Dean.

Also, I need a fucking edit of “Do you miss the rogue/ Who coaxed you into paradise and left you there” immediately.

Ivy - Destiel

“Your touch brought forth an incandescent glow”, “My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand”, “ I wish to know/ The fatal flaw that makes you long to be/ Magnificently cursed”. I also liken the “promised to another” bit to Dean being Michael’s true vessel, especially with the lines “He’s gonna burn this house to the ground” and “ So yeah, it's a fire/ It's a goddamn blaze in the dark” and Michael’s association with fire. I may also read too much s5 au fic whoops.

Cowboy Like Me - Destiel

Duh. The entire cowboy thing, “never wanted love just a fancy car”, “You're a bandit like me/ Eyes full of stars/ Hustling for the good life/ Never thought I'd meet you here/ It could be love/ We could be the way forward/ And I know I'll pay for it”, “Now you hang from my lips/ Like the Gardens of Babylon/ With your boots beneath my bed/ Forever is the sweetest con”. This is the only song that I’ve seen people applying to Destiel that I actually agree with.

Long Story Short - Midam

“And I fell from the pedestal/ Right down the rabbit hole/ Long story short, it was a bad time/ Pushed from the precipice/ Clung to the nearest lips/ Long story short, it was the wrong guy/ Now I'm all about you”. If that doesn’t summarize their time leading up to and actually being in the Cage perfectly, I don’t know what does. Also, “And he's passing by/ Rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky/ And he feels like home” 💙

Marjorie - Sam

Specifically, the connection between Sam and the generations of their family that came before - the Men of Letters, John’s journal, the Campbells. “ All your closets of backlogged dreams/ And how you left them all to me”. Dean may be the character that we more closely associate with “the life”, but Sam is sort of the keeper of knowledge, and I can vividly see him pouring through journals and MoL mission reports and accounts from the Campbells’ library, taking in not only the actual lore and hunting information, but also the connection to his family.

Also the “Never be...” lines fit him to a fucking T.

Jess’ eyes were everywhere in the crowded space, smiling at the people having fun, singing and dancing to the band on the stage. She’d never been in a concert before, and her girlfriend was right: It was a big experience.

She had her arms around Jo and her chin rested on her shoulder, singing and holding her tight. Her friend Dean was the one who’d gotten them the tickets after winning them in a contest and finding out he didn’t really like the band playing.

She didn’t know a single thing about the group, though, but it didn’t matter. Spending time with Jo was enough for her.

Jess’ lips touched her skin softly and Jo turned her neck to glance at her.

“What are you doing?” she questioned over the music.

“Kissing you,” the young woman smirked. “What does it look like I’m doing?”

Jo chuckled.

“I know you, Jessica,” she covered her hands with hers. “Those aren’t innocent kisses.”

Her girlfriend just continued smirking, and her hands slowly moved to the hem of her shirt.

“I was just thinking of that talk we had last week,” she muttered. “Do you remember it?”
