Perhaps someone saw the short video where the Collector Princess shoots a man and tells him what a bird whispered to him. So... Danny the Collector, he's probably mistaken for a mafia member, but the shadows of the dead or ghosts tell him everything.
And he didn't even want this job! He simply saw how much work lay ahead of him as the Ghost King, with a huge pile of IOUs that had never been returned and all their deadlines had expired, and he decided he had to do something about it immediately, but certainly not sit in his office forever!
And he found the solution by accident. He simply asked Sam and Tucker how he could solve this situation, and they simply said, "Well, you could become a debt collector and just collect all the debts." They were joking, and Danny just looked at them as if they had said the best thing in the world.
And so he stalks demons and other entities, becoming a danger to all planes of existence, except for the world of the living, for now. Demons in debt to the Crown suffer especially, but it's their own fault!
And somehow, John Constantine accidentally ends up on the list. How can a person be in debt to the Ghost King? It's simple: the Man is the very same debt payment. Danny received about 100 papers stating that something from Constantine now belongs to him as payment for the debt.
And so there's the League meeting, another boring discussion of problems, and then a green portal appears. Everyone is preparing for the worst, and out comes a teenager with a pile of papers.
Danny: John Constantine?
John: Uh... Yeah, it's me
Danny: Brilliant! * puts a pile of papers in front of him * this is yours!
John: What?!
Danny: Yeah, the demons used your promises as collateral for debts to the Ghost King, so... You couldn't just sign all this and I'd leave? I still have a lot of debtors.
And, of course, Batman, being the only responsible adult at the moment, wouldn't let John sign anything, because you can't sign anything without reading it! But you know... Danny didn't bring all the papers. Let's just say this will be the worst Justice League meeting ever, because everyone was sitting over John's papers, and Danny was happily drinking juice and watching with a smile, because he wasn't the one dealing with all this right now.
And John isn't the only one, don't worry. He's just the most problematic. Danny will find the others. And that's a threat.
