Todd and Neil both go to Keating on different days to talk about things and ask questions about poetry. Keating has seen these two and knows that they have been getting closer and more importantly that they obviously fancy one an other. So he asks them about each other and how they’ve been doing and how everything’s been. Making small talk and sharing in sentiments, Todd saying Neil's very expressive and emotive and Neil saying Todd's pretty secretive.

And then Keating gets a piece of information wrong on purpose about the other. He tells Todd that Neil’s “hazel” eyes can be very expressive. Todd explains how they aren’t hazel, but in fact a rich chocolatey brown and that chocolate also describes how he looks at things, because he looks so sweetly and with such joy. He tells Neil that Todd’s grey eyes are potentially hiding his deeper thought. Neil corrects him and says that Todd eyes are a specific shade of blue that gleam perfectly in the sunlight and that are accentuated when he wears a darker sweater or when his blushing.

Cue both boys realizing what they have just said and flushing a little, while Keating softly chuckles and offers advice for dealing with these feelings they obviously have. And a week later when they are looking much happier he knows they have finally started dating. (They tell him and he congratulates them while also saying “I knew it would happen here soon”)
