coffee with john harbison
the string quartet #2.. not much i can say-the word awesome is way over used these days. one needs to bring ones*s “grown up” ears to bear. listening to string quartets from the 20th century is a good way to re-wire your brain-wish i could tell u “there are no harmful side effects” but that wouldn*t really be true. yes? random tangent sort of... working with a “looper pedal” makes me think of written parts that would use looping as part of the performance. still trying to figure that out. will effort another tangent-I*m thinking of getting a “bit-crusher” pedal (yikes)
01.30.19 As part of their Focus Festival, Juilliard presented a concert at Peter J. Sharp Theater featuring works by John Harbison, Sofia Gubaidulina, Katia Tchemberdji, piano pices by Ligeti and solo cello pieces by Esa-Pekka Salonen, all exquisitely performed.
