Birth of Joanna II of Naples: The Queen Who Ruled Through Turmoil
On June 25, 1371, Joanna II of Naples was born, a future queen whose reign would become one of the most dramatic chapters in the history of medieval Italy. She became Queen of Naples in 1414, ruling a kingdom caught between rival powers, internal rebellions, and competing claims to the throne.
Joanna’s rule was marked by political struggles, shifting alliances, and conflicts with nobles and foreign rulers. Without a surviving legitimate heir, her succession decisions created a crisis that helped fuel the later struggles between the houses competing for control of Naples.

She died in 1435, leaving behind a legacy of intrigue and a kingdom shaped by decades of conflict.
