while battling zapdos, gou is anxious and honestly, pretty terrified. he’s seen legendaries but he’s never fought one, and none of the pokemon he’s fought can compare zapdos’ strength. when ash arrives,

he gives him this subtle, pleading look. he doesn’t know what to do. ash almost immediately launches into a mini pep talk, but before that

ash is genuinely really concerned for gou, he’s seen the look he gave him and knows he needs him, but he doesn’t respond by taking over the battle.

he encourages gou to continue his battle, and he doesn’t help him, because this is gou’s rightful battle and chance.

gou is surprised, because he probably though ash would step into help. after all, they had just been bickering about who would fight zapdos first. then ash says this

and gou’s reaction to that is so important because,

October 9th: JN040 - VS Thunder! Legendary Raid Battle!!

A thunderstorm draws close to Satoshi and the others as they are enjoying some snowcones. They establish it's possible the Legendary Pokémon Thunder might be nearby. Satoshi and Go encounter Thunder at the location they went to after Go got a sudden flash of insight and   immediately challenge it to a battle, but...

2nd summary

It's a nice day. The sky is blue and filled with white clouds. But as Satoshi and the others are enjoying some snowcones at the Sakuragi Laboratories, a huge thunderstorm suddenly draws close. And once they sense the presence of powerful biological energy, they realize it's possible the Legendary Pokémon Thunder might actually be nearby! And as the areas surrounding the Sakuragi Laboratories keep losing power, Go gets a sudden flash of insight, and the duo succeeds in encountering Thunder at the location he thought of. They immediately challenge it to a battle, but Thunder proves to be way too much for them. However, they decide to have a raid battle against it, working together with some "helpers" they truly didn't expect to be there!! 

And we know by preview the helpers are Rocket Gang! Real hyped for this episode purely for the TRUCE plot!

October 16th: JN041 - Operation: Dub Pikachu / Half Numacraw

Musashi and Kojiro, who have thus far been relying on Nyarth's interpretations to understand what Satoshi and Pikachu talk about, decide to train themselves so they can understand it on their own. This airing will also include "Half Numacraw".

Today’s episode was a good one. Not GOOD good but I can’t say it was bad in anyway way either. JUst that the TRuce was too small part of the ep, I wanted moooore : D

Thunder/Zapdos did not get caught (which makes me SO SO SO happy, yes keep legendaries uncaught, only legendary I’ll accept getting caught is Zacian and Zamazenta, seriously lol), and Gou starts showing signs he’s thinking less with data and more with instincts, like Satoshi does. I think my fav part of the ep was the Rocket Gang parts, and how Satoshi doesn’t understand a word Gou said about... eggs? Satoshi was a big mood today for me like, Gou what lol (subtitles will clarify the scene better, but it sounded like it tried to explain the egg logic of raid battles in GO).
