I love Prongsfoot and I love Jily and honestly, the potential for both at the same time is just so good. James who loves Sirius with all his heart and Lily too, and nothing can change that. James who marries her because he wants to be with her forever, but asks Sirius to be his best man because a part of him always wanted Sirius up there at the altar with him in some way.
And Lily and Sirius both becoming closer because of their ties to James, but also learning to love the other. Perhaps not in a romantic way, but they still love the other. Lily who gets to experience just how loyal and caring Sirius can be towards those important to him when he’s there for her and James throughout her pregnancy, when he’s the first of all her friends to offer help, when he’s the one sitting there with Harry in his lap, making funny faces and changing his diaper and feeding him the days when she just needs a break.
And Sirius who loves Lily for how happy she makes James, for how happy she’s made him and for making room for him in their little house, for trusting him in a way very few has trusted him before, for looking past his background and his name and his less than nice sides to see the good parts of him.
And Lily and James together making the decision to make Sirius the godfather to their child, not as a “if we die during this war” gesture, not a “reserve parent” but as a “you are, no matter what legality and blood says, Harry’s third parent, equal to us and together with us until the end”
