I hate Jily.
That doesn't necessarily mean I'm pro Snily, though. I just hate Jily.
We see no progression of the relationship. We're just told that they get over their differences. Even at that it isn't looking too good, I mean James is hexing people behind Lily's back (the very thing he promised not to do) and they got pregnant at 18/19. Which I'm just saying, people tend not to do that deliberately. And that occasionally leads to teenagers getting married to try and provide a stable and happy life for the child, which tends not to go well.
I just struggle to get my head around the fact that we as an audience are supposed to believe that Lily forgave James.
For everything.
For:
• being a bully
• being a sex-pest
• acting like he was better than everyone else
• hexing young children just for their house
• publically humiliating her (now ex- but still) best friend
• constantly assaulting and seriously bullying her best friend for no reason
• sexually assaulting her best friend (stripping him publically without his consent, don't even try to tell me that doing something like that doesn't count as sexual assault)
• making a map that stalk everyone (Jesus Christ)
• harassing her
• threatening her with assault
• attempting to blackmail her
• (also I don't know if she actually knew about it, but if she knew about midnight strolls with Moony then that's a pretty big issue too)
• also not to mention the seriously creepy behaviour of never taking 'no' for an answer and hounding her for being hot.
You shouldn't forgive someone for doing stuff like that. Especially not in 2 years.
By all means let them live their life now that they've matured, but don't marry them! Don't just forgive and forget years of harassment and hatred just because he is easy on the eyes. That is a terrible basis for a relationship!
Don't pull that bs, 'bUt tHEir Patr0nusEs!1!1 It's a sIGN!!!' excuse either.
Stags and does mainly interact in the wild to fuck. Stags fight other stags for the females, and then they have babies.
But tell me how romantic it is.
Actually it fits in quite nicely to the idea that they mainly got together due to base attraction.
Also don't tell me how changed for Lily and it's all terribly romantic because thAT IS THE PROBLEM!
If he had changed of his own accord and Lily had thought " wow, I guess he's grown up, maybe I'll give him a chance" I might have s l i g h t l y less of a problem with it. Like it was actual character development. I would still abhor it. Just less.
Instead he does it just to please Lily. Like "well I personally don't see the point but Lily might let me snog her if I do".
It's as if Lily was some prize to be won for accomplishing the impossible task of being a vaguely decent human being!
Amd he didn't even do that! Because he was still hexing Snape behind her back! He could have told her that Severus was casting the first spell if such a thing was true (forgive me for not taking Remus and Sirius' word as gospel when they are trying to ensure that Harry doesn't think his dad is a huge piece of shit) but he doesn't, he just pretends that all of that is behind him.
And frankly after everything James did to him, I wouldn't blame Severus for wanting to get in the first hit since James clearly doesn't put a stop to this and hexed back rather than just shielding himself and trying to, oh I don't know, apologise for years of abuse?!
It's like he's waiting for it.
Both of them.
For different reasons though.
There's nothing good or brave about beating up the kid that you bullied after he punches you if the face trying to get the drop on you for once in his life when you know that you could just block him and leave.
I despise everything about the James/Lily ship.
('cept for Harry, he's alright)
