Not really! I read a lot of different genres but I do tend to stick to the ones that I love. I did read a biography this year for the first time in probably a decade so that was interesting!

To the IB anon asking about notes: I made a lot of my notes on my computer but if that isn’t an option for you, this is what I would do. I’d get three binders, two large ones and one small that I can bring to school, and a lot of paper. Small binder: notes you need atm for classes. Large binder 1: transferring old notes into. Large binder 2: final exam prep, aka notes from class plus notes from textbooks, etc. Revision notes basically. Make these from DAY 1. This is VITAL! I mean it. Good luck!

Yoooo current IB year one student from Sweden. Had my eyes on Glasgow for quite a while now, got any tips for studying in Glasgow or IB in general? :)
Heeeeyyyy, I have no idea how long this has been in my inbox, but I swear I haven’t been ignoring you - I just didn’t know this was there. Sorry.
Tips for studying in Glasgow: so you know, depending on what you apply for you actually have a fair amount of freedom in choosing what you study. Most people can choose an elective course (I think only medics can’t) so that gives you loads of time to explore other areas than what your programme is. A lot of people pick up a language or a chill course in a subject they’d like to know more about. Take advantage of this! Also, seats in the library are in high demand. Learn the rules and the patterns of movement and busyness during the day and you will rock that building. Other than that, you’ll be fine. I mean, you’re in the IB.Â
On that note…
Tips for studying in the IB: TREAT YOUR FIRST YEAR AS IF IT WAS YOUR LAST. Meaning: most people feel like they could have prepared more in their first year. I for one wish I would have made revision notes for all my topics already in my first year. Grab all your syllabi and start making revision notes for the stuff you’ve been learning so far. It’s going to save you so much effort in year two when you have all your IAs to worry about. Work hard in year one and you won’t have to work harder in year two basically.Â
It was 10 degrees and sunny yesterday and now I get this!? Why. Good thing I’m going to be inside studying for the rest of the day - no sun to miss! And yes, the reading room is my new go-to study place.

Actually got some shit done today so that was nice. I read about 40 pages of philosophy and took notes as well. Took me about 3 hours and I almost gave up. I then went to this Allies training that GUSA, the uni sports union, arranged now that it’s LGBT+ history month. Other than that the weather has been really good for a couple of days now and it makes me feel like it’s spring 🌷🌷 and I LOOOVE spring. It also makes me really happy that I’m going to Lund to visit my friend and that my sister is coming to see me in Glasgow next week.
