everything we know about the past wizard kings

My own idea around the characters tieing into context around the Black Clover story is that the Four-Wizard-Monarchs represent seperate features of a Deck of Cards. As "Card based" references are used prominently in the story (I.e. the names of the four neighbouring kindoms being the titles of the sets of cards), I believe that each of the wizard monarchs featured in the film represent a unique character among the set of cards: Princia Funny Bunny - The Queen Edward Avalache - The King Konrad Leto - The Jack Jester Garandros - The Jester Asta - The Ace My reasoning behind the placements for each of the monarchs into said roles is set to their assumed character traits through the official bio's and their naming schemes, Jester Garandros obviously acting as the "Jester" due to his name and deceptively sinister seeming character, acting much as the modern ideal of a Jester would. The Jester also often lacks a numerical value to his card in card games, seen as an extra or surprise card among the deck- this ties into him having seemingly secondary motives in his hidden, cunning nature as he is removed from the other Monarchs in the sense that he has no numerical scoring whereas the others hold the similar scoring of 10 points. I feel this fits very well to his description in the bio given, as well as the belief that Jesters (often tortured by their kings) would have sinister motives to betray the authority that supports them, it seems fitting for a character like Jester to be revived in attempts to destroy the Clover Kingdom which he once supported. (I also suspect that he will betray Konrad and comrades at some point, which would be a fitting plot point in the upcoming movie as Black Clover often has a primary authority betrayed or subverted by a seemingly lower authority i.e. Elf Reincarnation plot, Spade Kingdom and their demons, Asta subverting the royals above him) Konrad Leto in my eyes would be the "Jack" as his name Konrad (as mentioned in the video) refers to someone of an advisory position, where Leto refers to hidden / removed: considering those distinct aspects of his name (and also his rebelious actions), it would make sense for him to belong to the "Jack", as they were aristocrats seperate from the royal house themselves which meant despite not having the same authority as a King or Queen they still had advisory say over certain decisions. As they were not royalty themselves, aristochrats (when given ample opportunity) would often seek to betray their monarch in search of furthering their own greed or in a sense of revenge (usually when they are dealt a politically unfavourable hand by the royalty above them)- tieing this into the context that Konrad was trapped by the current Wizard King Julius, who as we see displays the greatest characteristics of a King in the Clover Kingdom, and Konrad perhaps growing sick of the abhorrent social divisions the Clover Kingdom Aristocracies supports, it would make most sense thematically for Konrad to be displayed as the "Jack". Edward Avalache, though seemingly not the primary figure in the plot of the movie nor plot of the characters themselves, I believe would be the King, as through his seniority in age and supposed wisdom after his ministerial role he seems most fit to represent the Card for the characteristics of a modern ideal of a king (aged, wisened and disciplined). Kings were also previously thought to be the hand of God (i.e. divine right of kings, the current clover kingdom Monarch having light [deemed by himself as holy] magic), Tabata has often included older european beliefs and fairy-tale ideas into his story, so by having someone depicted in a monasterial role and also acting as a Wizard "King" it would make a lot of sense contextually for Avalache to represent the "King". Last of the Monarchs, Princia Funny Bunny in my point of view would make perfect sense to display the "Queen" card, as she is the most senior in terms of the timeline being the oldest Wizard Monarch mentioned, her rank as a joint highest in numerical value of cards as the "Queen" as well as being the only female Wizard Monarch we know of, placing her as being represented by the only female character in a deck of cards would fit together very well. She is described as having one of the most competent fighting abilities amongst all the Wizard Monarchs ever, but was also feared as a result of this, and has an expressively apathetic nature- all of this considered, she fits the perfect descriptor of an "Ice Queen" type character, an apathetic person of high authority who is often feared for her coldness or other attribute. Overall, considering context of card games and her bio (not to mention her gender), Princia seems very fit to be depicted as the "Queen" in a card set. The piece that ties it all together for me is that the highest value card in many card games, but not numerically, is the "Ace", the A or Ace of many plots in the Black Clover story being Asta (Similar "A" naming scheme); despite Asta being magic-less and often deemed the lowest general value all of magic society has to offer, he has offered the most potential and also highest value in fights across all of the story (Not to mention he's the protagonist, so him being the highest value inherently makes sense). As all of these characters are Wizard Monarchs and Asta himself aspires to be the next Wizard King, by having him and his comrades battle against previous Wizard Monarchs (and thus others valued at the highest of a card set) it would string all the context clues and plot devices provided together- by having Asta best the others and proving his might he sets himself as a higher value than the other cards and thus above the Wizard Monarch's before him.Show less
